Steve Stanchfield and Thunderbean Animation have started work on an all-new DVD featuring every single Cubby the Bear short produced by the highly underrated Van Beuren studio.
Who is Cubby? Cubby the Bear was created by Mannie Davis at a pitch session held by Van Beuren himself at the New York Athletic Club. The character did not hold as much personality and promise as the previous Tom and Jerry series, but still did fairly well. Three Cubby shorts were farmed out to Hugh Harman and Rudolph Ising who were still comissioned by Warner Bros. at the time producing the earliest "Looney Tunes" and "Merrie Melodies" cartoons featuring the likes of Bosko and company.
The staff here at GAC wishes Steve the best of luck and we certainly hope to see this up on Amazon.com sometime soon.
