While all of the Gene Dietch era Tom and Jerrys are somewhat odd to say the least, "Tall in the Trap" contains something I've never seen in a cartoon short before or after-specifically the "preview" of the coming action prior to the title card/credits. I know "The Flinstones" used to do this, as well as a few live action shows, but no other shorts have done anything like that. Why did Deitch use this technique in "Tall"? Was the 'toon running short, or is it for some other, unfathomable reason?

This cartoon was a spoof of the TV Western Have Gun, Will Travel (1957-63). Each episode of that show opened with a close-up of a gun, and Richard Boone's voice-over threat or warning (like "Sit down, gentlemen, and sit still. I've come to order a coffin for the first one of you that makes a move."). Later in the ep, Boone (as Paladin) would say the same line in long-shot.

That's an interesting way of getting people's attention!
This was also the cartoon that rather surprised me to see a scene of just two guy's talking. Not too unusual, but not something common to find in the Deitch era T&Js.

What I always found unusual about the film was the absence of the live-action Leo the Lion roaring inside the MGM logo and that Leo doesn't even appear until after the film has already started. It kinda reminds me of BATTY BASEBALL but without the humor.
