I don't know how long this has been going on for, but CN seems to be airing Tom & Jerry shorts as filler after the 9:30am showing of Gerald McBoing Boing. I caught half of "Puppy Tale" today while flipping through the channels. I checked their website and it looks like the T&J will be used as filler next week as well. I didn't notice any logo during "Puppy Tale" today, so this might be a chance to record some logo-free T&Js that aren't on DVD yet.
It's not a huge deal, I know... but worth mentioning.

Is it just me, or does CN shows respect for "Tom and Jerry" more than other classic cartoons? Not that there's anything wrong with it...

All the 3 and 4 year olds at my day care center seem to LOVE Tom and Jerry. None of them know who Bugs Bunny is, however.

Is it just me, or does CN shows respect for "Tom and Jerry" more than other classic cartoons? It's not just you. Yes, they do.
And CN shows more respect for Tom and Jerry because CN/Turner owns the characters of Tom and Jerry lock, stock, and barrel, and stand to profit dramatically from all licensing revenue that the characters bring in.
The same is true of Scooby-Doo.
The same is not true of the Looney Tunes characters, with which parent company Warner receives all the ancillary income from merchandising, or with Popeye, in which case King Features receives that income. Even if Looney Tunes broadcasts on CN rated slightly better than Tom and Jerry or Scooby (and I believe that sometimes they did), add in the merchandising factor and CN stood to lose more than it gained.
Gradually, daytime CN has been "purified" to feature only series that make the network the most money in all possible ways.
Should Warner be mad about this? Trouble is, a successful CN is still very good thing for Warner, which means that CN has Warner in a corner.
The best solution would be for Warner to license the Looney Tunes to another broadcaster, but I believe they shot themselves in the foot years ago by giving CN exclusivity for an extended period of time. How long that period runs into the future, I'm not sure.
Unfortunately, when it runs out, WB will have a problem on its hands: Looney Tunes will look less attractive to other broadcasters now, as for the first time in their history, Looney Tunes are no longer a property with a built-in children's recognition factor (and yes, that matters—disappointing as it may be to you and me).
What a headache.

While I'm glad that Tom and Jerry are still recognised by today's kids, am I the only one who thinks that's kind of sad, that there is a whole generation of kids growing up that doesn't know who Bugs Bunny is? I feel old now... :(

I'm 31 now—and when I was a twelve-year-old, you couldn't find a kid in my neighborhood who didn't know not only Bugs but Heckle and Jeckle, Bosko, Popeye, Woody, and many others who have since largely faded from view due to one kind of negligence or another.
In my sixth grade class, as part of a schoolwide jumble sale, two friends and I painted a board with a picture of Krazy Kat and ran a concession where you threw foam bricks at the image to win a prize. Our inspiration was the KFS Krazy cartoons then running on a local channel.
Not even very good cartoons, those; but man, have times changed!

Another reason Tom and Jerry will not totally disappear,
was an image of both, modified slightly, was used and my still be, by the US Navy, for the F14 Tomcat. I have 2 of the stickers put a way from 1972 and 73 when the TomCat came into Service. Tom Has 2 tails, and Jerry stands near him. In some Black eye Pea Restaints, when some did have the collectables on there walls, had a statule of the US Navy logo for the TomCat. This one was just Tom alone, but wearing the outfit of
the TomCat logo.
From My understanding HB did the logo for the Navy
in the late 69, early 70, when the tomcat was in testing phases before she went into service in 73, in vietnam.
