Has anyone else noticed that something happened to the "restored" Puss Gets the Boot on the second Tom & Jerry set? The opening card reading "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Presents An MGM Cartoon" looks like it was redone, and there is a jump cut between that card and the "A Rudolf Ising Production" card that I'm positive wasn't there before. Am I right in thinking that someone at Warner changed the opening?
Besides that, I'm pleased with how nice some of the early T&J's (especially The Midnight Snack and Fraidy Cat)and the Cinemascope films look, and with a Christmas gift card I only wound up paying nine dollars out of pocket!:D

You are absolutely correct.....in the prints we've seen on tv (and now youtube and dailymotion) the first card fades into the other; there's no jump cut. It looks so weird.

Thats the second MGM cartoon that I know of that is like that. The first Harman & Ising cartoon, Discontented Cannary has a credit done like that. The beginning title card (following leo), is red with white letters. All of a sudden there is a jump and the title goes to the average 1934 cyan titles reading the same text in the same style, (which flickers on the screen and is the original title).

Since the version of Puss Gets the Boot that was included on the 2nd Spotlight Collection was specially remastered for the DVD, ii'll hazzard a guess WHV used a different Master to make the DVD copy, one that evidently had a jumpcut.
