I recently saw a repeat of the "Night Court" episode that features a very brief (maybe 5 seconds) gag appearance by an animated Wile E. Coyote.
If you've seen it, I'm curious as to whether this was specially done for the show or (more likely) was just something grabbed from an existing cartoon. And if the latter, has anyone figured which short it might have been snipped from?

I always thought that was just an early and very crude computerized re-creation of old Wile E. ...

I assume it was some hack at WB that put it together just to have Wile E. do a usual "stun take" just for those short seconds of time. I haven't seen this episode since it aired on NBC, but I somehow remember NBC pimping the same episode with that scene used in the promo.

"And the next time you're hungry, go to a supermarket or a restaurant, but for heaven's sake leave that poor bird alone!"
:coyote:
I probably screwed that quote up badly.

As I remember it, it was a six frame-or-so animation, with Wile E scratching his head (?) in a simple back and forth motion that only lasted a few seconds. It was just chroma-keyed into the video and was simply done - but, it was the kind of off- the- wall sight gag I liked about Night Court. The other best one is when Harry was caught with a married woman in his chambers, and he glances over at his photo of Mel Torme on his desk, and the face has changed from a smile to an "oh no" look of shock!!!

Markie Post once described "Night Court" as "a live-action cartoon." One in which no sight gag, no matter how ridiculous or defiant of the laws of physics and common sense, was too over the top.

Her face defied the law of aging physics. She was as old as the main characters but was supposed to be in her 20s.
