hi everyone

i'm looking for a chapter of merrie melodies where a dead guy speaking with a lot of slang is narrating to some angels how he dead, and the slang is understood like the exact meaning and not as the slang tries

example:
dead guy: i was surrounding the island in a plane
cartoon: angels are imaginning a plane taking curves around the island curving the plane to adapt to the boundaries of the coast

please, if you remember this chapter tell me the name or something else beacuse i watched it a lot of years ago

thanks

The cartoon you're referring to isn't a Merrie Melodie. It's an MGM cartoon from 1951. The title of the cartoon is "Symphony in Slang" and it was directed by Tex Avery.

I just corrected a few errors I made, but there is pretty much the information you need. Re-read the post, my friend

It's a pleasure helping you out. And welcome to the Termite Terrace Trading Post and the GAC forums.:)

I remember that cartoon well. One of Avery's late classics, with some hilarious wordplay ("But I carried on...","After goin' through a lot of red string...", etc.).

"Synphony in Slang", one of the best from Tex Avery. Unfortunatly, only saw it once on Cartoon Network, about 4 year ago, but I still remember it very well.

Symphony in slang was about this dead guy who was telling St. Peter (In Heaven) about his life but he spoke in slang and St. Peter didn't understand what he was saying! The man was talking also about Mary, his old girlfriend that he dated & they went their separate ways and when they caught up,Mary had "a bunch of little ones!" (a bunch of #1's hanging on a clothesline).
The cartoon concluded with the man asking St. Peter "What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?" and then they show a cat hold out his paw with a severed tongue in it and this sly grin on his face. I am familiar with this cartoon but haven't seen it in years. It was hilarious!
Has anyone found it? I'd love to get it on dvd/video!

Ah, yes, I am very familiar with this cartoon. In fact, I just watched this the other day with my young one. He did not quite understand all of the stuff happening in it, but very much enjoyed the ending with the cat.

About two days later we were in a store and the lady asked my son a question. When he did not reply she said "cat got your tongue boy?" He turned and said, "Wheres the cat?" I never laughed so hard in all my life! I then had to explain to the lady about the cartoon while wiping the tears from my eyes.

This cartoon is one of the greatest. My favorite line is "I was sitting beside myself with anger." Then it shows two of the same guy, sitting in chairs next to each other, then a short distance away is another guy all red and named anger.

That's a great cartoon! I don't know if it's on dvd, but I have it on the "Tex Avery's Screwball Classics" VHS tape.
