There are several films being made available to celebrate the anniversary of what we in the UK call Public Information Films (you'd know them better in the US as PSA's, I think). There are more films being added over the next couple of months, so there may well be some more Halas & Batchelor pieces to look forward to, fingers crossed!

Halas & Batchelor made quite a few films for what was then called the Crown Film Unit, later renamed the Office Of Information. Some have appeared on a UK DVD called "Charley Says". It's nice to see some of their work available online. Unlike the main US studios, they took on all kinds of work of this type, as well as many TV commercials, using the proceeds to fund their own pet projects like Animal Farm.

You can view more clips of their work and read about their history over at their website...:)

I've heard so much about the studio myself, and it's rather facinating how versatile they were for their time.

I'd love to see "The Owl & The Pussycat" and "Butterfly Ball" again. Some video company here in the states have released a disc or tape of these shorts but I haven't got it yet.

Nice to see that there are some other Halas & Batchelor fans out there - their best work is ripe for a re-appraisal!:D
