Before I Go On, Remember that this thread is NOT to be taken as flamebait. This is just a poll/debate.

Which of the Two Major Classic Animation DVD Series do you guys like Best? The Walt Disney Treasures or the Looney Tunes Golden Collection (OR Do You Like Them Both? That's Fine, too). To Help, I Will List all of the Pros and cons of both series.

Cartoons:
Disney Treasures:
Wave 1: 63 Cartoons
Wave 2: 80 Cartoons and 1 Feature
Wave 3: 89 Cartoons and 1 Feature
Wave 4: 68 Cartoons and 5 Mickey Mouse Club Episodes

Looney Tunes Golden Collection:
Volume 1: 56 Cartoons
Volume 2: 60 Cartoons

Disney Treasures: 300 Cartoons, 2 Features, and 5 Mickey Mouse Club Episodes
Looney Tunes: Golden Colleciton: 116 Cartoons.

Winner: Disney Treasures.

Packaging: Disney Treasures: Numbered Tins (Waves 1 and 2), unnumbered Tins (Waves 3 and 4)
Looney Tunes Golden Collection: Generic Cardboard Packaging

Winner: Disney Treasures

Cartoon Selection:

Disney Treasures: All But Two Series of Cartoons (Silly Symphonies and Mickey Mouse in Black and White), in Chronological Order
Intros By Leonard Maltin on Controversial Shorts
1 Cartoon in Wave 1 is edited
Mickey Mouse in Black and White, Vol 2. Compensates for the reality that the First is Censored By Omission

Looney Tunes Golden Collection:
Scattered Release
Controversial Cartoons nonexistant, Intros or not.
Cartoons otherwise uncensored
Conspicuous bias in the First set against Black and White and Pre-48 Cartoons.
Wave 2 helps make up for everything but the CBO Selection
Winner : Tied

Well, I went with the LT Golden Collection, particularly because of Wave 2. While it was great of Disney to release some really controversial stuff on the "On the Front Lines" DVD, the LT set coming out this fall has a lot of favorites of mine (including restored original titles) so my choice went to them.

I had to say both since I couldn't choose, but Disney Treasures having nothing to do with WB Legal is certainly a major positive...

A major factor here is the content itself: I just love WB cartoons so much more than the Disney stuff...

Sorry fellas.....

Had to go with the Disney Treasures because of the very "important" cartoons they have released this year.

While I enjoy both, I'm going to have to go with the Disney Treasures simply because Disney is releasing their more controversial cartoons while WB isn't. The Golden Collection, on the other hand, does have more bonus features and commentaries on some cartoons.

Disney treasures because they release a lot of Black & White cartoons. Disney also has no problem releasing Politically incorrect content. I also like how Disney organizes there cartoons. The only plus WB has is extras.

The Walt Disney Treasures sets seem more organized than the Looney Tunes Golden Collections in terms of cartoon selection, and, when releasing large numbers of cartoons over a period of multiple years, good organization is important. However, I might be biased towards Disney Treasures because my collection of Disney shorts was rather weak.

Hmm....
:bugs1: or :mickey: ?
:daffy: or :donald: ?
:ham: or :goof: ?

I really like both sets, but Disney has released so much more at this point, including censored and rare stuff. I have to give them the nod.
If LTGC had a couple more releases under their belt I'd likely go with them - especially if they threw in some rare and censored stuff...

Both are great! The Treasures have the advantage of more organised collections and they have had the guts to present "important" cartoons in a sensible way, rather than just ignore them (however, by setting this example, I do believe other studios will follow). However, The Golden Collections are jam packed with extra features - commentaries, documentaries etc. While the Treasures do have a nice selection of bonus features, I'm often left thinking "I wish they'd included a documentary on this, or abandoned concepts from that".

Both.
But, I have to admit: I loved the extras from the Looney Toons Golden Collection.

I would pick the Gold Collection because the Treasure sets have only a few things that interest me. I'll give the Treasure Sets some points for the interesting interviews that Leonard Maltin has with the animators, and voice actors who you rarely see in the public eye. Still, both collections are very good in their own way.

I don't own any of the Disney Treasures collection. But I'd like to. Until then, I say both, judging on the content listed above.

I should start off by saying that I think its great that both studios are releasing uncensored classic material with quality restoration. Having said that though, I tend to prefer the Disney releases as they strike me as being more towards the collector/animation enthusiast. WB looks like they are walking a tightrope trying to appease both the mass market and fans. It's nice to see classic animation do well sales-wise, but this probably comes at the cost of bringing home rarer or censored material.
