Okay.....so, it's still a ways off, but no better time than the present to make your travel arrangements for the Mid Atlantic Nostalgia Convention. As you can tell, there's going to be a lot of classic animation events (and more that aren't on the schedule yet), and there's also room for more stuff! If you'd like to host a panel or a presentation, you can too. Check out the site:

I should also point out that there probably aren't many classic cartoon showings in this area, and there will probably be FOUR HOURS of classic animation shown at this event over the course of the weekend.

THE SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS REGARDING ANIMATED PROGRAMS FOR THE WEEKEND:

Thursday, 9:30 - 10 pm, BEANY AND CECIL CARTOONS
Thirty minutes of laugh-filled animated cartoons from the early 1960s reminding us just how funny satire is for adults, and slapstick can be for children! Spoofs of Hollywood celebrities, Dishonest John, and other spin-offs such as Cecil playing Superman are included!

SATURDAY, 9 - 10 am, CARTOON SHOWING
Presented by Thad Komorowski Eight classics from the 1940s and 1950s from the glory days of Termite Terrace. Included in this showing: Bugs Bunny partakes in assisted suicide and dresses as a Zulu native. Daffy Duck at his most delightfully obnoxious as a bellhop at Elmer Fudd's hotel. Speedy Gonzales in his debut film as a ratty-looking Mexican stereotype. Sylvester in one of his earliest roles as goofball. The Goofy Gophers in one of the most wildly animated shorts ever produced. Also included is a cynical tale of deceit and abuse from the animal world, as well as a banned Bob Clampett masterpiece.

4 - 5 pm, UNDERDOG CARTOONS
Not only do you get a chance to see an hour's worth of Underdog cartoons, but you get the opportunity to view the best episodes of the series including the premiere episode, the only cartoon never aired or broadcast in more than 30 years, Underdog's first meeting with the evil Simon scientist, and other goodies!

Sunday 9 - 10 AM, CARTOON SHOWING
Presented by Thad Komorowski Eight classics from the 1940s and 1950s featuring some of the greatest characters ever created. Included in this showing: Tom dresses in drag, then signs a non-aggression pact with Jerry and Butch the bulldog. Tex Avery shows what happens when a horny country wolf visits his city cousin, and his own delightfully evil twist on Chilly Willy. Woody Woodpecker stars as an insane barber in one of the greatest cartoons ever made. Andy Panda has a jazzy 'trip' after eating one too many apples. Mickey Mouse handles his orchestra through gun control. Concludes with a rarely seen Columbia short with the Fox and the Crow.

Also, there is a Lost In Space Retrospective which actually covers the Lost in Space animated series from the 1960s/70s, and a WWII cartoon showing on Saturday from 10:30 pm to 11:30 pm with cartoons made overseas in Germany and the Chez Republic.

There are many other film showings but these are the ones that cover animated cartoons, not to mention animated cartoons and film shorts shown between the movies. There is a dealer there who sells DVDs of drive-in intermission breaks and many of those are animated. Worth attending if you can drive out for a day or two.

A person would be remiss not to also point out that Buck Biggers (co-creator of Underdog) is one of the guests.

I'll be presenting two 90 minute programs on Charley Chase and Laurel & Hardy at this event as well, and fellow GAC member Michael Hayde is co-hosting a program on Dragnet spoofs.

WOW, I can't believe it. A convention I might be able to go to. Almost all of them are way to far for me. Maryland is just my neighbor to the north. I will try to go for the last two days since that will be the weekend.

This sounds like so much fun, I wish there was something similar up north!

I am a member of what arguably is the premier Old Time Radio mailing list run by Charlie Summers..They have been posting notices about this same convention and it sounds fantastic..There are also guests related to old Radio and TV Including Actors Barry Morse, David Hedison, Lana Wood, Marta Kristen..Lone Ranger/Detroit Radio Expert Terry Salomonson, several B-Movie Actors from films like Plan 9 from Outer Space..Michael Hayde, Dragnet Expert..Makes me wish I could take the weekend off and go..

I saw you on the list. When you asked "Who's coming?" I thought you meant special guests which is why I listed the people in my post..sorry for being a bit confused
