What classic cartoon cat and mouse team do you like the best?

I like Sylvester and Speedy the best.

:sylvester :speedy:

I voted Tom and Jerry. But where are Herman and Katnip and Itchy and Scratchy?:tomcat: :jerry:

I voted Tom and Jerry. But where are Herman and Katnip and Itchy and Scratchy?:tomcat: :jerry:

Obviously you've never seen the legendary bootlegged John K. short in which all four of those characters met in a dark alley and none ever came out. ;)

Which is why I voted for Tom and Jerry too ... it's survival of the fittest.

You left out Herman and Katnip, but I'll go with Tom & Jerry.

Good ranking!

I'll put the earlier Sylvester cartoons (mouse-hunting with son) before his Speedy pairing though. That's scraping the bottom of the barrel!

I voted for Tom & Jerry, but I also like Herman & Katnip.

TOM AND JERRY without question in terms of theatricals, and their television equivillent, PIXIE AND DIXIE AND MR. JINKS for TV. I always thought in terms of comedy, theirs was the best segment of THE HUCKLEBERRY HOUND SHOW even though it was YOGI BEAR who rose to become the star of his own show in 1960.:tomcat: :jerry:

I forgot about itchy and Scratchy, and I am not too familiar with herman and catnip to remember them on a regular basis. But then again, that's what others is for.

Adjusting Duck Dodgers' list (since these are all the cat and mouse teams I've ever seen);

1) Claude Cat and Hubie and Bertie

2) Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks

3) Herman and Katnip

4 ) Sylvester and Speedy

5) Tom and Jerry

If Hippity Hopper were considered a mouse, I'd squeeze in his shorts with :sylvester at #2 between Claude Cat and Herman. I didn't include Itchy & Scratchy because they mostly appear in only fragments of cartoons, not whole cartoons. I voted for :sylvester/:speedy: though because the others didn't immediately come to mind until I read through the responses.

I voted for Tom and Jerry, but I think there should have been other cat & mouse teams in the poll. They have already been mentioned in previous posts. Even if they were there, T&J are still my favorite.

HERMAN AND KATNIP were Famous Studios' answer to TOM AND JERRY, although a poorer imitation, they had the difference of having voices. Actually, Herman was a good character, voiced by Arnold Stang. In a sense, you might consider Sylvester and Tweety inspired by TOM AND JERRY as well. In fact, Sylvester was called "Thomas" in the beginning.

Don't forget Stimpy and Ren the "mouse" in The Boy Who Cried Rat.

"Hey, cat...aren't you gonna *eat* that mouse?" :D
