Has anybidy ever wondered what would happen if Warner bros. decided to make some other Looney Tunes DVD collections in addition to the golden collection? maybe not re-releases of any cartoons from the earlier golden collections, but a few companion collections, maybe cheaper, less discs and less features, and released earlier in the years?

here are a few ideas:
•Looney Tunes & Merrie melodies: The Black & White Years. This would feature a black and white image of Porky Pig and Daffy Duck on the cover (for the selling point), and they would also be joined by Buddy (maybe). This could feature 15 black and white cartoons per disc. Disc 1 could have six Bosko cartoons, four Buddy cartons, four merrie melodies, and one Beans cartoon (without porky). Disc 2 would have six Porky Pig cartoons without daffy, four Porky and Daffy cartoons, two solo Daffy cartoons, and three one-shot Looney Tunes. A special feature could be about the history of balck and white cartoons, and maybe a comparision between blakc and white, redrawn, and computer colorization.

•Looney Tunes: After the Studio Shut Down. This would be a two-disc set of the post-1964 cartoons. The cover would feature Daffy Duck, Speedy Gonzoles, Road Runner, Wile E. Coyotie, Cool Cat, Merlin The Magic Mouse, and Second Banana. There would be 15 cartoons on both discs. Disc 1 would include one of daffys cartoons without speedy, one of speedys cartoons without daffy, eight Daffy and Speedy pairings, a Cool Cat cartoon, a merlin cartoon, The Wild Chase, Flying Circus, and Norman Normal. Disc 2 would include 8 Road Runner cartoons, Rabbit Stew and rabbits Too, both Bunny and Clyde cartoons, two more Cool Cat cartoons, and two merlin cartoons.

•The Uncensored Censord Eleven. All eleven of these cartoons on one disc, with a special disclaimor for each cartoon (maybe by leonard maltin, Maybe by jerry beck, maybe by whoopi goldberg, etc.). There could also be commentaries on all of these cartoons (or if not, then commentaries on the most significant ones), plus a documentary about racism in classic cartoons.

•Looney Tunes: The Recent Years. This would mainly focus on warner bros. cartoons made since the late-1980s, like The Duxorcist, Another Froggy Evening, and Little Go Beep, as well as the unreleased cartoons produced in 2003.

What are your ideas?

I think that's a great idea! I'd buy the "After the Studio Shut Down" set for the :beepbeep:&:coyote: cartoons, and the "Uncensored Censord Eleven" set just to see most of these for the first time.

This gets the cartoons out faster and lets those of us who don't necessarily want every single LT/MM in our library pick and choose what we really do want.

I personally would like to see a complete road Runner and Coyote DVD that has all of Chuck Jones's Road runner films, since those my favorite classic cartoons of all time:beepbeep: :coyote:

And a World War II Warner Bros. cartoon DVD similar to the "Disney on the front lines" DVD would be nice to have, with all of their Snafu cartoons, propoganda shorts and other War time films:daffy:

Except for the Looney Tunes: Recent Years one (which I think probably won't go well with the fans who love the classic stuff, but it might be worth seeing for someone like me because of how other directors besides the ones we all know and love [Clampett, Avery, Jones, Freleng, Davis, McKimson, etc]) handle the characters, you pretty much listed DVD ideas that everyone else has (including me), especially the Censored 11 cartoons on DVD (with warning about objectionable content by someone like Leonard Malton who is better at critiquing animated shorts than live action films, Whoopi Goldberg who understands racism and is a fan of classic animation, or Jerry Beck who made a career documenting the history of animation).

My ideas for cheaper DVD collections of LTs would be more theme based (which is what the GC already does in a sense), like movie parodies, romantic cartoons, "weird" cartoons, and it wouldn't include just Looney Tunes. Throw in some other shorts from studios that get equal to or less recognition than WB (although this might create some legal issues).

Or a better idea would be this: You know those Golden Jubilee videos? They should be remade for DVD format with more cartoons and maybe some commentary.

Oh, wait...that would be what the GC is:(

Well, I'm stumped.
