Today marked the return of another DePatie/Freleng series, "MisterJaw" on Boomerang. marking the first time that "Misterjaw" was back on tv, since it's original televison run since the mid 70's.Here are the titles that aired today.
"Cannery Caper"
"The Codfather"
"Beach Resort"
The three cartoons all opened with the United Artists...An MGM company opening titles with the original "Misterjaws"(opening & closing) title cards. Each of the cartoons were fully restored and did contain the laughtracks(UUGGHH!) while "Beach Resort" had an abprut edit.I haven't seen this series in thirty years and it was great seeing these rare cartoons again and I must say that "Misterjaws" is a much better series than "The Blue Racer" ever was.Don't know if Boomerang has anymore of this series lined-up, but it's good to set your vcrs for this series, since it's very rare.
For the record, Misterjaw cartoons always had laughtracks since they were made for television.

Yeah Thad, I knew that, but I thought that they could take out the laughtracks like other companies(that used them) have done in the past.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Boomerang is going to air ALL DePatie-Freleng theatricals, and other cartoons that associates with "Pink Panther" (like "Crazylegs Crane").
I guess pretty soon, "Hoot Kloot" is going back on air after 5 years. :p
P.S., Misterjaw was last seen in 1980s, when it was shown in syndication.

But why would MGM (now Sony) want to go through the process of remixing and remastering the cartoons? That costs money and it's not like they're making a mint off syndication. They're not up for blowing the profit margin.

I think it was remastered back in 2000. Back in September, I got a "Misterjaw" cartoon from Jerry Beck, which I think is the same copy Boomerang has (minus the time code). Before the cartoon began, there was a text that showed the title of the Misterjaw cartoon, with the production number, and the date it was transferred. Same with the "Blue Racer", which was remastered back in 1997, and the same copy used in Boomerang.
So maybe they were ramastering PP cartoons for the possible DVD 5-7 years ago, and at the same time, decided to remaster other DFE cartoons.
