I remember either hearing or reading somewhere that Sonny and Cher were the singers who sang that Snoreky song on that Beany & Cecil episode. Somehow, I'm not sure if this is true or not.

Hm, interesting; I hadn't heard that before. It sounded to me like they grabbed a local folk group from a coffee-house or something...there were lots of them around in those days.

On a side note, is it just me, or is SNORKY the worst cartoon that Bob Clampett ever made? I am in awe of the man, and I hate to post about him just to complain, but this cartoon makes me want to go into the kitchen and smash all the dishes.

Don't be too hard on Clampett for 'Snorky'... He DIDN'T direct (or even write) a single one of the Beany and Cecil cartoons. Clampett's only claim on them (besides producing) was to have written ALL the very brief outlines over a single weekend. The real stories were written later by the credited storymen. And ALL of them (including 'Snorky') were directed by Art Scott (who trained under Art Davis back in the late Thirties).
[Hmmmmm... Sorta like Art Davis ending up as co-director on the last couple of Clampett's Warner cartoons].

Seems to me I remember Bob saying that these were two kids he heard singing at a party. It might have even been a birthday party at his own house, but my memory of the anecdote is fuzzy, at best. If I can find a more definitive answer in a published interview, I'll let you know.
