In the wake of my poll on bullfight cartoons, I thought I'd once again take a page from the sports page and see what the forum consensus is regarding shorts dealing with our national pastime.
Take your pick!

I think I'll go with BASEBALL BUGS. That cartoon is full of fun gags. My personal favorite being the "He Got It" gag.:bugs2:
BTW, You forgot the following:
CASEY AT THE BAT
CASEY BATS AGAIN
THE TWISKER PITCHER
SOFTBALL LEAGUE

"Baseball Bugs." Far and away the best of the lot. (Also worth mentioning is the closing Statue of Liberty gag, although I've never quite been able to pin down what inspired it.)
But you know you're not going to get away from this post before I give honorable mention to "Mexican Baseball" (Gandy Goose, That Studio Again, 1947)! ;)

Good shorts all. I guess it was inevitable that I'd forget some, although Disney's "Casey at the Bat" in particular is one I should've thought of.

I'll have to pick "Gone Batty". That's a really funny cartoon- (after being beaned on the head.. "I don't like you." ) although it runs neck-and-neck with "Baseball Bugs".
You also forgot Lantz's "Kiddie League" (surprisingly funny considering where in the timeline it was released), "Oswald's Baseball Game" (is that one home-titled as "Softball Game"?) and the Famous Screen Song, "Base Brawl" (another funny cartoon).

I went with 'The Screwball', one of my favorite Lantz Cartunes from the studios highest period...
(I'm betting I know who else chose that too!) :woody:
If either of the 'Casey' shorts were an option on the poll, they'd have been my first pick.
'Baseball Bugs' is a certified classic and wonderful cartoon but I'll admit that I still prefer Disney's "How To Play Baseball" more. It would be a close second though... proceeded by the above selections!
I honestly don't remember much of Fleischer's 'Twisker Pitcher', it's been years since I've caught it on broadcast TV. It's a shame these shorts aren't more readily available as I'm sure it's right up there.

You left out Boulevardier From the Bronx. But Batty Baseball is funnier.

This one's easy: "Baseball Bugs."

"Baseball Bugs" is the best one - the Gashouse Gorillas doing a line dance around the bases still makes me laugh out loud.
