My first hit or miss :D
This cartoon is borderline in both ways, that's why I chose it. I bet it will get votes both ways. It was just on.
This McKimson Bugs cartoon gets a HIT on my end because the end was unexpected and funny. Bugs got a rare reality check at the end of this one. He usually is the one who dishes out the punishment but not here.
The cartoon as a whole wasn't funny and it really wasn't Bugs Bunny in his true form. He was gullible and incoherent...like Bugs would actually fall for a dog track rabbit. It's unlike Bugs to fall in love at all, even.
Still, the end was funny to me and it gets a hit :bugs2:

I'll call it a borderline Hit. Bugs checking out the dogs at the beginning was the funniest part.

Have you seen Hare Splitter? :bugs2:

:realizes that must be a cartoon where Bugs gets bitten and ducks:
No :bugs2:
It's a hit like all of McKimson's cartoons between 1946-1953! "This looks like the beginning, of a BEEEEEYOOOTEEEEFUL friendship!"
Also, Bugs is henpecked in HOLD THE LION, PLEASE if that counts for any of Bugs' loves.

I loved it. Bugs tackling down all the dogs near the end is priceless. And pretty much any cartoon with the "Now I've seen everything" suicide gag is priceless.

Didn't you ever see Hair-Raising Hare? Bugs is definitely open to mechanical love. :D
This one was a big, big favorite of mine as a kid. I still think it's one of McKimson's better Bugs efforts.

Myself & others have said this before: Bugs has his vulnerabilities: His Pride, His Carrots, and "Dames". The mechanical rabbit wasn't the first or last time Bugs would fall for a "hunk of feminine pulchritu--dee."
A hit! I like this cartoon a lot. The script is fun: "shadow on the bicuspid". "Father's Mustache looks a little droopy". "Pneumatic Tire is flat!" I saw this toon once at a theater with a live appreciative audience and "Motorman's Glove will have a hand in it" got a huge laugh, possibly because the grin & okey-doke sign he gave the audience hinted this dog had more on his mind than just the race!:tweety: ;)
A good cartoon also has neat little "throwaway" details. Check out Carl Stalling's use of the song "Baby Face" for the race track rabbit: smooth & flowing, with little "mechanical" accents.

Big time HIT!! I love this cartoon. I think it's easily one of McKimson's best. All the gags are great. The puns made on the dogs' names are terrific. The whole Bugs-is-in-love-with-a-mechanical-rabbit works great every time. I love all Bugs' lines about his love interest, and all his other one-liners. Everything about this cartoon is funny. Like I said, big time hit!

An unequivocal hit in all departments. This cartoon has animation, laughs, and suspense. The wager board's changing numbers provide a nice touch. Greyhound racing is still with us (at least in the USA), so The Greyhounded Hare has yet to feel dated.

This would be a BIG HIT! One of Robert McKimson's best Bugs Bunny cartoons. I like the dog's names "Pneumatic Tire" , " Fathers Moustache". etc. The scene when Bugs checks out the dogs is funny.Carl Stalling's music is exceelent during the scene where the dog is charging at Bugs like a bull.
Bugs: " Let's see those little toothies lassie:
Dog: "Roar"
Bugs :" Don't you like rabbits"
Dog:" I Hate Rabbits"

Yep, very funny stuff...although it was really Spike Jones and Doodles Weaver who first employed that kind of gag, on their "William Tell Overture" record. ("Feeeeee-tle-baaaaum!!")

Definite hit (despite the string of bad puns when announcing the dogs).

Hit - I haven't seen it in at least 25 years (ACK! A quarter century!) but I loved it as a kid.
