Now that Boomerang has brought back the Pink Panther, we've seen some mixups, missing title cards. laugh tracks, etc, etc,.So what is everyone's opinion on the show, now that it's back on tv?

Out Here in central NJ, we're still lobbying hard for Cablevision to give us Boomerang, period, so Geezil abstains. :(

I voted for great. Yeah there have been some screw-ups but it's better than not showing them at all. Plus I've managed to snag a few that I haven't seen before. Just wish they would at least leave the title cards intact so I could know what the heck I'm watching!:(

I have not seen Pink Panther cartoons in about 25 years so it is great for me to see them again in any way, shape or form.:thinkpink

I voted great. The restorations are very well done and there's a good selection of shorts.

Didn't some cartoons originally have laughtracks?

I think "Shocking Pink" (1965) did have one (if the R2 Europe PP Collection DVD is anything to go by) but "A Fly In The Pink" did not - which is odd because I have an MGM VHS that presents "AFITP" with a laugh-track.

IIRC, the laugh tracks first popped up when the Pink Panther Saturday morning half-hour premiered on NBC in the late '60s.

Also "Pink-A-Rella", "Gong with the Pink" and some others had laughtracks.

I don't know about "Shocking Pink". I believe Boomerang and Cartoon Network Japan uses the same copy for the Panther shorts, and CN Japan aired "Shocking Pink" WITHOUT laughtracks. Even the original music was used in the credits.

Thats wierd about Pink-A-Rella, the version I have on an old VHS is edited, and DOESN'T have a laughtrack.
Was anything else in P-A-R edied BTW (apart from replacing the witch's drink with a drumstick?)

DVD version had laughtracks, but witch's drink is in that version. It would have been nice if they used soundtrack from edited version and drinking scene from original version.

Can anyone post a screenshot from the version with a drumstick?
