I got an idea for a thread: names of Looney Tunes-characters in other languages. Here are some of Finnish names:

Bugs Bunny: Väiski Vemmelsääri
Daffy Duck: Repe Sorsa
Elmer Fudd: Elmeri
Marvin the Martian: Marvin Marsilainen
Porky Pig: Putte Possu
Petunia Pig: Petunia Possu
Sylvester: Sylvesteri

I've heard of the French names (because I have the LT Premiere--not Golden--Collection). I've also heard of some of the characters' names in Spanish:

Tweety: Piolin (there's an accent somewhere)
Daffy Duck: El Pato Loco (literally "The Crazy Duck")

I have no idea what Speedy Gonzales's name in Spanish would be (or is), considering that he is Mexican

In italian, the only characters who aren't called with their original name are:
Tweety-Titti
Sylvester-Silvestro
Elmer Fudd-Taddeo
In the italian translations done during the 1960s, Porky Pig's name was Pallino.
In the italian versions of the Looney Tunes comics published during the 1950s, Bugs Bunny was called Lollo Rompicollo, Porky Pig was Perlino Porcino, Petunia Pig was Rosetta, Elmer Fudd was Ciccio, and Sylvester was Miao Silvestro.

Very American of you, grim_tales, but there's a Spanish version of Foghorn Leghorn that's more or less an improvement on the original. I believe in Espanol, Foggy is called Claudio Gallo (I never took Spanish. I know some basic stuff, but that's because I watched Sesame Street as a kid and they had counting in Spanish animated pieces almost all the time)

I've always loved the German name of Porky Pig...
Essentially it means "Fat Pig" but it looks to our English-reading eyes like something entirely different soooo I won't be printing it here.;) :ham:

I'm not sure about the rest, as the TV showed the original shorts when I was a kid.
