Do you remember this movie? It featured Bugs Bunny :bugs2: and Daffy Duck :daffy: at the beginning of the movie including Porky Pig :ham: at the end. The opening for this movie except the closing was animated by Chuck Jones. I remember the movie since it was shown on the Sci-Fi Channel at one time. I remember when the Sci-Fi Channel was running the closing credits of "Gremlins 2", the credits went split screen. You cannot hear Porky and Daffy saying his closing line while they were running promos for TV shows that were airing on the Sci-Fi Channel. That was very sad.:( I might as well get the DVD of the same movie.

This is Joe Dante's best movie and one of the weirdest movies ever released by a major studio -- Warner Brothers gave him almost total freedom to do whatever he wanted with the sequel, and the result was a wacky, cartoony movie that captures the spirit of classic cartoons better than Dante's Looney Tunes: Back in Action did. "Do you think the Gremsters can stand up to the Hulkster?"

This was one of my absolute favourite movies when I was a kid. There are actually two versions of the film. In what must have been the original version there's a part when the gremlins cause havoc in the movie theatre - stopping the film mid way and making silhouettes on the screen with their hands, before being sorted out by Hulk Hogan! The version I grew up with was modified for T.V so that the Gremlins start channel hopping and interefere with various T.V shows. This included cattle being branded with the WB sheild in a Western and a clip of the classic Bugs Bunny short.

The other version of the scene was made especially for the VHS version (to make it look like the Gremlins were taking over your TV, as opposed to taking over the movie theatre). It's included as an Easter Egg on the DVD.

The theatre scene in which Hulk Hogan did a cameo was completely cut off when it was shown on the Sci-Fi Channel.:( I hope that when I get this movie on DVD, it would be fun. It was Joe Dante's best work. Joe was directed the following movies like the first "Gremlins" and the more recent film "Looney Tunes: Back in Action".

Even more aggravating, to me anyway, is that they also remove the entire Bugs and Daffy opening. It just cuts right to the movie title.

I love that Chuck Jones animation and I have the DVD and there was appartenly some animation with :bugs2: and :daffy: that got cut out. I think that it plays better with the extension. But test screeners were getting confused with questions like "Is this the movie or the cartoon?".

While not a personal favorite, 'Gremlins 2' certianly had it's moments. The animated sequence from Chuck Jones being one of them, as well as cameo appearances by Leonard Maltin, and Hulk Hogan. You gotta admire this film for it's wackiness, and it captures the spirit of the Warner Bros. cartoons better than anything that came out since. Although 'Back In Action' comes close, though.
