The poster of the "Getting Boomerang" thread may be interested to know that yesterday Verizon signed a contract with TBS that will put the Turner networks (including Boomerang and TCM) on their FiOS service. FiOS is a high-speed fiber-to-the-home network that Verizon is building in many communities.

Once this system is built out, the cable companies better watch out. Or Verizon will eat their lunch. But it will take time. I can't get it in my neighborhood yet. I can't get DSL either because I'm three and a half miles from the telephone company central office. I have a feeling that the phone companies will abandon DSL and concentrate on building fiber-to-the-home systems.
