Quite recently, I made a successful bid on eBay for 8 rare Felix The Cat cards. It is quite certain that these came with either British tobacco or confectionary, but I don't know the manufacturer or what year these were sold (probably early 1930's). If anybody knows, I'll be extremely grateful.
I've scanned all eight, and have loaded them onto my webpage (http://uk.geocities.com/ldgloveruk/cartoonarchive/felix.html) for your viewing pleasure. :felix:
I've noticed that one of the cards (Felix's girlfriend waving goodbye to him) looks quite similar to the one that is found in John Canemaker's Felix book (the main difference is that the picture is reversed).

REOWR! :felix:
Great Felix finds, Lee! Maybe David will add them to his "Classic Felix the Cat Page".

I'm pretty sure those cards are older than 1930's. They look more like the Felix design of the early 1920's.:felix:

That is very early Felix. Circa 1921-24.

The seller estimated these as early 1930's, although I could imagine that these were sold in the mid-/late 20's. I don't think the cards were issued in 1922-24, but then again, I'm no expert. :p

As long as he gives me credit, I'll allow him to use the images.

MROWR! I'll give you credit, all right.
The images on your cards seem to be derived, at least in part, from a famous British postcard series that kicked off in 1924. You can see some examples in my merchandise gallery.
But... hmm... I DON'T know any more about them than that! (Gulp!)
Nice cards! Is there anything printed on the back of these - it could provide a clue as to where they originate? My aunt's partner has a huge collection of cigarette cards and the like. When I was a kid I remember looking through the whole collection and it took hours! He didn't have any with cartoon characters (I'd remember something like that), but there were some unusual ones including some that were printed on material and some which had black and white photos of animals dressed up in cars and getting married.

Nope. Absolutely nothing. :(
But whoever made these cards, I'm pleased that I got them. ;) :felix:
