I read somewhere that Hal Seeger's "Batfink" was on Nickelodeon for a brief time. I was wondering, when was this?! I used to watch Nick all the time when I was a kid, and don't remember seeing this series.

P.S., anyone have episodes from this series and willing to trade?

I don't believe that "Batfink" ever had its own series on Nickelodeon. However, I do remember seeing it between sketches on "Weinerville", which was a very bizarre live action/puppet show that ran for a few years in the early-to-mind 1990s. They also had several UPA Gerald McBoingBoing and Mr. Magoo cartoons in their repetoire, I believe.

I remember it as part of Weinerville as well. I think it was on another cartoon show called Cartoon Kablooey to

Back in the mid-90s, Nickelodeon also had "Nick In The Afternoon" where they'd occasionally air an episode of Batfink. I remember thinking it was the (for lack of a better word) stupidest cartoon at the time, despite the cool theme song.

Batfink was produced in 1967, at the height of the Superhero craze brought on by ABC's Live Action "Batman" series. I watched it on WEWS-TV 5 in Cleveland during the afternoon "Captain Penny Comedy Clubhouse"..I really liked the theme song as well..

Many people likes the themesong, so here's a wmv video for the "Batfink" theme (http://dfe.goldenagecartoons.com/batfink.wmv)

New York viewers enjoyed "Batfink" as part of "Winchell-Mahoney Time" in '67, to add to the completeness of this discussion. If you dig around April Winchell's web site (be careful; some of her humor clearly isn't for kids), you'll find a copy of the Winchell-Mahoney theme!

While the "Batfink" cartoons on Nickelodeon were a special treat, be advised that there were some content edits in the cartoons themselves and the classic opening sequence with Batfink and Karate being shot at by unknown baddies was excised totally.

The late Hal Seeger, the series' creator, personally supervised the restoration of the shorts at Today Video, BTW, and they have appeared in a Region 2 DVD box set featuring all 100 shorts. I haven't seen it myself, so I can't vouch for original titles and content edits.
