In the should-have-been-live-action short Wild Wife, when Marcia beats George over the head with a rolling pin (something that DEFINITELY would not be allowed on television today), you see the word "HIS" written on it. What's the actual joke behind this?

If you think about it, linen companies used to make towels marked "HIS" & "HERS" as to avoid confusion as to who's was who's.
The rolling pin is marked "HIS" because he will be the only one to get hit with it...
Get it?

I don't really know about that when you consider that women physically and verbally abusing men have slipped by on live action and that more and more cartoons have females as protagonists while males are relegated as antagonists or as the "goofy sidekick" (unless the males are a minority, i.e., black, Hispanic, Asian, Jewish, etc). If it were the husband beating his wife, then it would not be allowed on TV. Of course, you have Family Guy as the exception to this, but that's because Family Guy is one of the latest in taboo-pushing animation (South Park too).
