Hi Guys,
Let me start off by saying that us GACers and a couple friends had a GREAT time at this wonderful screening! We saw several very rare Felix the Cat, Out of the Inkwell, and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoons among others. I'm sure we'll have some input here from Nelso and David, who also attended.
By the way, was anyone else from GAC there? We couldn't tell.
And to end this post, I enclose a special picture of a bunch of us "nuts":D

Glad to see you guys had a good time. I was unable to get off work, so I couldn't attend. :( I'm sure there will be another rare screening sometime this summer.

Dangitt! I wanted to go to the screening! I hope my fellow Tri-State pals had a blast. I had a swell time at a Sweet 15 party I had to go to. For once in my life, I enjoyed dancing Spanish music, and ironically, I am Hispanic.

I wish I went to that screening as well. I would have been able to meet a few GACsters in person. Oh well. I'll get the opportunity sometime.

And what a screening it was, as there was a great turnout for this screening and the film selections was great. The thing that impressed me was the restoration on a majority of the films, while a couple were decent looking prints.I personally awaited to see "Oswald The Lucky Rabbit" back on the silver screen and I was not disapointed, as the two Oswald shorts were from both Disney and Winkler. The Disney verison that was shown was "Sky Scrappers" (1928) which would be remade five years later in the Mickey Mouse cartoon, "Building A Buliding".The other Oswald was from the Winkler studios was "Weary Willies" (1929) and was directed by Friz Freleng and a very funny short. The movie audience was into the entire screening and Felix got the "biggest" response from the theatergoers and my personally favorite Felix cartoon that was screened was "Felix Kept On Walking" which was also made into a popular song back in the mid 20s.
In all... A great festival and I was impressed on how many people attended this show and everyone had a grand ol' time.It was great to see Tom and David and made some new friends in the process, while we were all there at MOMA.
And speaking of silent cartoon festivals, i've just been given the news that MOMA will have a two part silent cartoon program devoted to the animated works of Gregory LaCava. The first screening will be held on Sunday, July 24th at 1pm and the second show will be on Monday night July 25th at 6pm.So far the screening will include, "Krazy Kat", "Judge Rummy" "Happy Hooligan", "The Katzenjammer Kids" and much. much more, so more great toons screenings to follow next month.

Thanks!

If I don't need to go to counseling that Sunday, I definitely want to attend that screening. Any idea how long it's going to last? Given that I missed the last event, and seeing as how museums are a great way to learn about topics that interest you (like the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art [/shameless plug]), I would probably enjoy it and be able to meet fellow NYC GAC members. It's not often that I get to meet new friends.

Thank you for that news, Nelson, and there just might be a first meeting with Geezil in your future (at last) come July 24! (That also goes for Tom, Emmanuel, and so on, and so on ... :D )
