amazon has it up for preorder. It's $40 list, with a selling price of $28.

Does anyone here have any opinions as to which of the 5 seasons is the best? I watched most of the episodes during their original airing, but I've hardly seen the show at all since then.

Here's an episode guide from tvtome (http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/EpisodeGuideSummary/showid-1866/season-all).

Looking at that guide, I'm partial to season 5 because I'm a huge fan of Linda Ronstadt and Debbie Harry. But the guests are not the only things that made some episodes better than others.

I am really looking forward to this, even though the Muppet Show's first season is its weakest. You can tell the writers and performers were still figuring out what they were doing. The personalities of characters like Gonzo and Fozzie aren't what they'd become later on. You'll also notice a few characters who play major roles in season one that would eventually be reduced to background characters (George the Janitor, Hilda the wardrobe lady). It is going to be a great set to have for the extras and the history value, but, IMO, the Muppet Show started to get really good at season 2. The show gets better and funnier as the seasons go on.

Thanks. Since it kept getting better and funnier, I guess that reinforces my preference for season 5.
