I seriously can't wait for the movie. It's going to be awesome, no doubt.

I'm surprised it took this long for a movie based on the Simpsons to show up.

great news but reading the article it looks as it will take some years to have it on screen...they only made a script...

Yeah. They hope to have the movie released in 2008.

Let's hope the movie is better than the last six seasons.

I think the movie would work better if the old writers wrote and not the current team.

I don't think it could get any worse than the season finale and all of the religion cracks. Easily the worst Simpsons episode ever.

That episode was supposed to air in the middle of the last season, but since Pope died by the time that episode was made, it was postponed, and aired as a season finale.

Let's hope the movie is better than the last six seasons.Still doesn't sound too good. How about we hope it's better than the last ten seasons?

This movie is way too late. The writers should have really jumped on the idea ten years ago when it would have been a smart move to do so, but the talk about it and any scripting then just became an arcade video game.

Now they've milked just about anything funny out of the cartoon, and as I agree, the last 5 seasons at least have been painful reminders of how rounds of talent attempt to keep the show amusing, but to no avail.

They could probably write about 20 minutes for the movie featuring the Simpsons themselves, and then as soon as they add in all the dated pop-culture jokes, flash-in-the-pan allusions, and celebrity references, then they'd have their 92 minute standard release. :p The show nowadays is basically around the Simpsons, not about them.

Matt Greoning originally intended to do a movie after the series ended, because they had no idea how to do a movie and a show at the same time back then. However, now that it's possible, they're having the movie in production now.

Oh, and remember the episode "Kamp Krusty"? Originally, it was supposed to be a movie, but the writers had trouble coming up with 90 minutes worth of stuff.

Now that's good news! Actually, I first heard they were doing a Simpsons movie about 6 or 7 years ago (I remember someone once said it should have been released in 2001! ). Let's hope it will be better than the last seasons... but, after more than 300 episodes and hundreds of comics, I'm not sure if they can still make something really good...
