Robert McKimson is a very underrated director. He was known as the best artist of Warner Brothers created the standard model sheet of Bugs Bunny, and also created Foghorn Leghorn, but his cartoons are vastly overlooked among many classic carttoon fans. And while I am not a fan of his Bugs Bunny cartoons (see The Grey Hounded Hare...euch...) , nor his efforts as a director of Roadrunner films (infact I actually revile these), and also directing a good deal of the much despised Speedy and Daffy cartoons from the mid to late sixties, I do like quite a lot of his work. Among his greatest cartoond are Daffy Doodles, a claassic in its own right, a very good cartoon. This cartoon would easily make my Top 100 cartoon list. Another great McKimson cartoon is What's Up Doc. This is a very funny and clever cartoon about the origins of the relationship between Fudd and Bugs Bunny. Easter Yeggs is also a McKimson classic. So what do you all think of the director Robert McKimson, and what do you think his best achievements as a director are???

He made some great cartoons but his work is too inconsistent to be in a class with Jones, Freleng and Clampett. My favorites are "Daffy Doodles" and "The Hole Idea."

IMO, his best work was almost entirely in the Foghorn Leghorn series, though I do agree about "Daffy Doodles" and "The Hole Idea."

I love his Foghorn Leghorn cartoons, and most of his others as well (except the mid-to-late sixties stuff, but I don't consider that WB anyway).

There's this McKimson cartoon where a fox repeatedly attempts to steal a bobby-soxer chicken but this big yellow rooster stops him every time. Anyone know the title?
The look on the face of the fox after the oven explosion is priceless!
