Just thought of this up.

List cartoons, and scenes, if you can, that contains mistakes. For example, like how the character's color changes from shot to shot, or how cels are layed over incorrectly. Or maybe credit goof up (like in Broken Leghorn, where they forgot to put "Layouts" after the animator's credit)

In "The Foghorn Leghorn", when the old Chicken Hawk walks in a scene, there's a streak of yellow that appears and disappears on his back as he walks.

To be honest, there's really not that many goofs, compared to not just HannaBarbera but various other TV Shows like The Simpsons and Garfield.

The only one i can think of now is in Fast and Furry-ous. When Wile E. is tossing the boomerang, his tail disappears when the boomerang touches his hand.

The opening scene in Fresh Hare, where the "camera" moves from tree to tree looking at posters, and they screwed up the gag by putting the girlie poster on tree 2 instead of tree 3, but Stalling's score plays "Oh You Beautiful Doll" on tree 3.

In I Love to Singa when Jack Bunny is bringing out the First Prize trophy, it keeps changing layers between the cymbal mallet.

Actually, I think that was intentional. Yellow back means "coward", just like the Father Hawk. Maybe it would've worked better if the yellow didn't disappear.

In "Hair-Raising Hare", as Bugs tries to keep Gossamer behind the door, when he says "Is there a doctor in the house?" his head disappears for one frame.

In Bugs Bunny Rides Again, after the final line-crossing gag, we see Yosemite Sam falling, then we see Bugs on top of the cliff again, but now the lines are gone.

For now, I can think of two Disney cartoons with goofs:

STEAMBOAT WILLIE - During the scene of the farm animals at the boat dock, there is a shot of a cow. As the cow moos, the FOB tag disappears for less than a second and then reappears.

MICKEY'S SERVICE STATION - Pete's Pegleg changes from one foot to the other.

I saw "The Crackpot Quail" on tonight's Toon Heads. When the dog is going through the routine describing the critter he's chasing, I noticed that while you hear a whistle, the dog is clearly sticking out his tongue like he's giving a raspberry-which would make it impossible to whistle! This is evidence that the quail originally made a much different sound when he tried to blow the feathers hanging in his eyes out of the way.

In the Tom & Jerry cartoon "Trap Happy", there's a scene where Tom and the Mouse Exterminator are pumping gas into Jerry's mousehole. On the first shot of this, Tom's chest is colored dark gray all over, with no light gray patch! Then, after Jerry comes out and waves to the cats, they continue pumping gas - and the Mouse Exterminator's whiskers flash repeatedly.

In "The Hep Cat", the dog's paw changes colour from white to brown while he's behind the fence for one frame. In the same cartoon, while the cat runs up to the gate, his feet are black instead of white.

Not really a 'mistake' as such, but many of these classic-era cartoons were never designed with TV in mind - only theatrical exhibition. The disadvantage with that is that sometimes you get credits or text in a cartoon cropped off by TV overscan.

For example, the scene in Rebel Rabbit where Bugs gives Manhattan back to the Indians (censored on some networks). The newspaper headline pops up and says "UGS GIVES MANHATTA" because part of it is cropped.

No, I didn't. It's just one of those things that's driven me crazy for years. Is there some kind of back story behind it?

oh,no,

i got the same feeling as yours about this thing,in my prehistoric thread(at the toon zone time)i tried to explain how i was shocked when i watched this thing and how i was shocked about the fact that such a colossal error(i think it's the only case of the kind in animation history:an error in the syncronization of the music score and the gag!)was never the object of many articles or discussions

IMO the intermittent yellow sheen was an effective touch, more subtle than a solid stripe would have been.

There are some instances where character's mouths don't move even though speech is heard. Two I can think of right now are in 'Southern Fried Rabbit', where Bugs' mouth stops moving halfway through the word 'Macaroni', and 'Birds Anonymous', where Tweety says 'Here we go again!' yet the mouth doesn't.

How about the scene in the Snake Preview where the skunk goes back into the pipe, the odor is coming out of its rear end!

Was it a dirty joke or something?

Tom's tail in many TOM AND JERRY cartoons disappears for no reason. (Ouch!):tomcat:

One of my favorite goofs is when Junyer Bear's head comes off while he is spinning Papa Bear in Bear Feat.

That wasn't a goof. After all, real skunks' odor comes from there.

Some of the later DFE cartoons WAS questionable. Considering that violence in cartoons was outlawed, they had to resort to hidden swear words ("I'm gonna make an ace of myself" "you already have") and other hidden dirty jokes.

That reminds me of the exchange between Dudley Do-Right and Inspector Fenwick when speaking of his possible marriage to Nell:

DUDLEY: Do you think you could ever call me 'son'?
INSPECTOR: No, but if I lengthen it a little bit...

I could probably list two dozen under Lantz's production alone.

I know there were always a lot of layering errors-- like things that would go under or behind a character when it should have gone in front, or the other way around. One in particular I'm reminded of was in Wagon Heels when Injun Joe took two swings at Porky with his axe, and Porky jumps and ducks to dodge the swings. But, both times, the layering is incorrect, and the axe goes underneath Porky's feet.

Popeye and the Pirates has the same problem with Pierres Pegleg.
