Maybe we're a bunch of old fogies, or maybe we've had one too many anvils dropped on our heads, but today's Saturday morning entertainment can't compare to the golden age of cartoons (http://www.goldenagecartoons.com/). As this site illustrates, back in the day, the funnies were actually funny. You had Bugs Bunny (http://toolooney.goldenagecartoons.com/bugs.htm), Felix the Cat (http://felix.goldenagecartoons.com/), and everyone's favorite instigator, Woody Woodpecker (http://lantz.goldenagecartoons.com/profiles/woody/) -- each teaching kids how to make trouble, and hopefully, get away with it. Of course, these creations didn't just fall out of the sky like an Acme safe. Read up on mischievous men like Walter Lantz (http://lantz.goldenagecartoons.com/) and Bill Nolan (http://columbia.goldenagecartoons.com/gems/) who imagined and realized many of these iconic animals. And for a real trip down memory lane, check out these classic comic strips (http://funnies.goldenagecartoons.com/) starring the likes of Tom & Jerry (http://funnies.goldenagecartoons.com/stories/mgm/tj6801.html) and Porky Pig (http://funnies.goldenagecartoons.com/stories/wb/lt180601.html). Hey, Porky, put some pants on! (in Comics & Animation (http://picks.yahoo.com/picks/Entertainment/Comics_and_Animation/))

That isn't all...

GAC has had the honor of being mention by Jerry Beck and Amid Amidi's insightful blog, "The Cartoon Brew" (http://www.cartoonbrew.com/archives/2004_08.html#000404)

Michael Barrier (http://www.michaelbarrier.com/) has honored our site as well - so has Animation World Network (http://news.awn.com/index.php?ltype=cat&category1=Internet+and+Interactive&newsitem_no=11698) (though their description is pretty much copied from the "Brew")

Long live GAC, hopefully this publicity will be a reminder to certain networks that people like classic cartoons.

Now, GAC has been mentioned by our good friend Dave Kotch of "The Big Cartoon DataBase (http://forum.bcdb.com/gforum.cgi?post=31997)."

WOW! That was really quick. The site's only one month old, too.

Congrats, Jon Cooke and the mods of GAC. It would be really cool if mentioned in movies. I think it happened to Homestar Runner once, too.

Man, I didn't think GAC wouldn't get this kind of attention on the Internet. It's a hell of a site, and it deserves all the kudos it gets!
