The upcoming 2-disc DVD set "Mickey Mouse in Black and White Volume 2 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=B0002S64UA/theunofficlooneyA/)" (slated for release on December 7, 2004) has had no official confirmation from Disney about which cartoons will be contained in the set, but an e-mail from Leonard Maltin to a questioning fan at the UltimateDisney (http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4969) forum says that the set will contain all of the black-and-white Mickey Mouse cartoons not contained on the first set, "Mickey Mouse in Black and White," which was released in December 2002 and is now out-of-print.

I know there has been a lot of speculation about the contents of the upcoming mickey mouse in black and white volume 2 dvd. A lot of people have been wondering if it will contain all of the remaining shorts because some worried that the more offensive ones would be left out. So i wanted to find out so i emailed Leonard Maltin at Movie crazy.com and asked him whether they would be complete or not, and this was his reply!
Hi... Yes, the final Mickey volume will have ALL the remaining b&w cartoons, including Trader Mickey and Mickey's Mellerdrammer. Mickey Mouse Club will have the first week of the show's run, all five episodes, plus new interviews with the Mousekteers. Pluto Vol. 1 has the first batch of Pluto's starring cartoons, with some extras as well. Sorry for the hasty reply...a few too many e-mails piling up this week! cheers, Leonard Maltin. This e-mail from Maltin also confirms that the upcoming "Complete Pluto (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=B0002S64UU/theunofficlooneyA/)" DVD set (also slated for release on December 7) is indeed a "Volume 1," as the cover art and press releases have suggested.

Thanks to MF TOON at the Termite Terrace Trading Post (http://forums.goldenagecartoons.com/showthread.php?t=272) for pointing this out.

That is really cool news about the Mickey Mouse Black & White set, if true! I am also very excited about the Pluto set as well. At first I was a little worried about the Pluto being a Volume 1, but after thinking about it, I'm really not all that upset about the idea of possible "double dipping." After all, that is only really a problem for those of us who want to get ALL of these sets, right? On the other hand, there are probably plenty of people out there who love Pluto, but didn't want to buy the whole Wartime Treasure set to get the few Pluto cartoons on that. So they in turn will be delighted to get a Pluto set that includes those cartoons on it. I'm starting to think that Disney (and any other company that puts out similar sets) is damned if they do and damned if they don't.
