It's Errol Flynn!

Why do you have to justify buying the movies for ANY cartoons regardless of whether the shorts are classic or not?

Also, everybody that likes classic adventure films ought to get The Adventures of Robin Hood, too. It's NOT on the boxset that got released today and ALSO has animated shorts on it if you need that incentive to buy it, too. Robin Hood is generally considered one of Flynn's finest, if not his best, film.

P.S. -- I like cartoon extras on DVD, too, but if a film's good, buy it regardless of whether a short's on it!

Also, in the long run, boxsets are generally cheaper to buy than individual discs. I've saved over $30 buying the Warner Bros. Gangsters set versus buying the same discs individually! I wanted all those films, anyway. Gotta have my fix of film noir and gangsters...

Thank you bjimba for posting a list of the shorts on the boxset. It's always a good thing to know what extra goodies are in a boxset. :tweety:

I agree, George, the main attraction is the great set of restored Flynn epics. I just mentioned the cartoon shorts because, well, this is a Golden Age Cartoons forum, after all. I did provide a link to a full description of the box set, and I'll be picking it up soon.

I think it was a nice gesture on Warner's part to NOT include The Adventures of Robin Hood in the set, since all of us Flynn fans have already run out and bought that one.

After all, if you don't know Errol Flynn's movies, you'll never understand Daffy's asides in The Scarlet Pumpernickel.
