I remember when Cartoon Network first aired. I thought AWESOME. But then some where along the line, they went to crap & well... remained there. Then CN decided to do a show called Adult Swim, well I wasn't too impressed with it either, that was until they added Futurama & Family Guy to their line up. Then those got old. Don't get me wrong I love those toons, but come one, how many times do we need to watch them & not to mention they repeat the same episodes within one night. But recently CN was at the point of redeeming themselves when they decided to add The Popeye Show, The Bob Clampett Show, & Toon Heads to their Line up. But it seems this too is short lived & we are back to square one & we are left with crap once again. So I pose the question to all true cartoon fans, do you consider it ADULT SINK or ADULT SWIM?

On the subject of Cartoon Network, it is irredeemable. That the only place where you can see Looney Tunes, once a symbol of what it meant to an American child syndicated all over the place on Saturday mornings and on many different cable networks can now only be seen on a semi-obscure Digital Cable network, which the vast majority of family's don't even get is very sad. But, hey,CN has been succesful with the crap they air, so there is simply no turning back whatsoever. It's nt Cartoon Network anymore, it's Nickelodeon basically (see Fridays). On Adult Swim obviously a few weeks ago I would have raved about it. But now that Mike Lazzo has betrayed us it is definitely as of now "adult Sink". Hopefully they'll redeem themselves. i do have hope. I really do.

Adult Swim. And I stand by my two most recent posts on the subject elsewhere ... hit 'em with the positive, not the negative, if you want 'em to truly understand how much we care about the classics.
And hit 'em with the positive as many times as you like!
Lastly, whatever else you may think of CN, Mike Lazzo is not the enemy.

I say SINK because like you said Family Guy and Futurama are going to get really old and with the DVDs and new episodes of FG and possibly Futurama on the way people will be satisfied with the shows soon and move on to something else.
Also anime is nothing but a fad right now. America seems to have this Japanese obbsesion but this is nothing new. Back in the 1940s WW2 and 50s there was a Latin/South of the Boarder Cuban craze. And in the 60s there was this tropical Hawaian theme craze going around and after soiders returned from Vietnam there was this sudden fascination with spicy and exotic foods.
This is why they should keep the classics on. Everything else go's away but what made the classics classic is timeless.:speedy:

Swim only because they actually had the b***s to air Clampett and Popeye.
And the fact that they renewed Venture Brothers, the only original comedy I see as very funny at the moment.

I watched Family Guy when it was on Fox in 1999. After seeing it again it is stupid now. I never watched Adult Swim until Bob Clampett came. Home Movies was alright but its gone now. I will give it the sink becuase they are ending Bob and Popeye and Toonheads soon.

Sink. How many times can you watch the same episodes of Futurama and Family Guy? Or six episodes of Fooly Cooly? Especially when they're all available for purchase on DVD?
Lupin is also fun, but I have twice as many episodes on DVD than have aired on Adult Swim.
The other programs all seem to be strictly for pot junkies or creepy, obsessed Japanese cartoon fans. The lack of money spent on animation makes this more noticeable.
I'm not even going to get into Adult Swim choosing "the bad version" of Super Milk-chan, as described by its English-language cast and crew. Maybe they were trying for something that appealed to both pot junkies and creepy, obsessed Japanese cartoon fans?

Unfortunately,
I have to be mostly negative about Adult Swim...
First off, I HATE the word "Adult" because it really doesn't describe the content of most of the cartoons in this time block. For the newer original shows that AREN'T licensed from Japan, terminology like "fratboy humor" and "stoner humor" would better describe the humor on shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Tom Goes to the Mayor, and the other shows that reuse old Hanna-Barbera footage and designs. They're just not funny -- unless you're drunk or high I guess.
Much of the anime shown at the late hours is also not very good, either. It's either the same shows shown for the millionth time on Adult Swim (Cowboy Bebop, Trigun) or stuff that just doesn't click for a variety of reasons (the long-departed but not missed Reign and Super Milk-Chan Show). Seriously, the anime on G4's Anime Unleashed block is generally much better than Adult Swim.
My only serious guilt pleasure on Adult Swim right now is The Venture Bros. series. Yes, it's a rip/spoof on Jonny Quest but it's actually funny and original in its own way while also spoofing superhero genres and action cartoons in general.
It's too bad that we won't get new episodes of Venture Bros. until next year and won't see Season 1 on DVD until Fall 2005 at the earliest. In the meantime, Adult Swim won't get much repeat business from me because I've long since gotten tired of all the repeats and shows that aren't funny...

I will say SWIM because we are fortunate enough to have some classics on CN (besides Tom and Jerry). It's better than nothing, isn't it? And they put Bob Clampett on. I was so happy to see these cartoons uncut. :)

I like it
Theres a certen edginess to it that sets it apart from the Pgm's on CN it gives us adults a chance to watch cartoons geard towards us (even if thay do show reruns or off network shows) insted of having to watch mucha lucha or some of those other crappy kids WB cartoons during that time block
Thats all we got goin for us (aside from T&J ) everything else on that network is child friendly FCC frendly crap

I'm in the middle.
I am not a fan of anime in general, and never watch the AS anime shows (with the exception of a few Trigun and Full Metal Alchemist eps, they seem to have a different flavor, but still not something I go out of my way to watch).
Venture Brothers is hands down the best new show on any tv station, much less just on AS.
Super Milk Chan and Tom Goes to the Mayor are both incredibly horrible.
I've already tired of Family Guy. Futurama is still funny, but I've seen every ep 20 times now. Move on.
Robot Chicken has potential, but for every gem sketch, there's 5 clunkers around it.
Aqua Teen...I have a weird love/hate relationship with this show. Some eps are funny as heck, but others are just horrible. Same with Sealab.
Havent seen too much Harvey Birdman I cared for. Hated the Space Ghost talk show, but liked Cartoon Planet.
Mission Hill is okay, has some good moments, but doesnt really stand out.
Hate hate hate Home Movies.
There. I miss anything?

I'm like 50/50 on Adult Swim, as I like such shows as "The Family Guy", Futurama", and "Aqua Teen Hunger Force", but it's the other shows that doesn't float, it sinks.I think that AS shows way too much anime, for which I'm not a fan of that type of animated style, as it gives me headaches when watching that crap.

adult swim has become anime mostly , and cartoon network isn't any better with there almost entire removal of classic cartoons. The only time I watch adult swim is when family guy ,ATHF or harvey birdman is on. And cartoon network when Justice League and a few other cartoons. The only anime i like is Lupin, everything else I just cannot get into. And what is with "this robot chicken" crap ? is it stoner tv or what ?

I like it, but as usual with Cartoon Network, you cannot depend on any kind of regular line up. I guess there's just as many people out there who like a variety, but when I'm thinking about my favorite show(s), I like to be able to find them at the same time every week. Of course, this problem goes well outside "Adult Swim" with Cartoon Network ...
