Award-winning British animation studio Icepics is working with Turner Entertainment to create an animation-led TV advertising campaign featuring cartoon characters Tom and Jerry for a leading German tissue company.
The campaign for Zewa, which begins in September, will feature Tom and Jerry demonstrating the softness of the company's tissue products. Icepics was chosen following its animation of the Turner characters in last year's award-winning Ford Mondeo advertisement.
While the background to the ad will be computer-generated in-house, the Icepics team will hand-draw every frame featuring the world-famous characters. The TV campaign coincides with a national on-pack retail promotion which offers consumers a choice of soft toys depicting Tom or Jerry.
"We are delighted to be asked once again by Turner to develop this latest Tom and Jerry campaign," said Icepics CEO Mike Davies. "Advertising agencies are now beginning to understand the benefits of hand-drawn animation over computer-generated images, and the positive impact this can have on advertising recall and product sales."
