You can pre-order Betty Boo from amazon.de
http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007LYDLY/qid=1111586022/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_16_3/302-3726155-8763249
The funny thing is that it is a "UK import", but no british site has yet this DVD announced (from what I know).
It seems that it is a 2 DVD Disc collection

This looks like another public domain set...
So far it seems, the best PD set in the US for Betty is the Platinum Corp 2-disc set that many of us have seen at Best Buy.
The British set has the advantage of having 2 more shorts on it, but it's probably another PD set.
A pity that it seems like we all have to wait a bit longer for anything OFFICIAL for either Betty Boop or Popeye theatrical shorts at this point in time.
Heavens knows that the company that holds these films is losing money in the long run because bootleggers will pop up even more frequently as times goes by to offer fans and the naive who aren't willling to wait transfers from VHS tapes and out-of-print LD boxsets.
It's criminal that Paramount and Time-Warner have not released Popeye and Betty on DVD yet. These two characters are STILL, even today in the absence of widespread TV exposure for over 10 years now, two of the most popular animated characters ever produced.
Disney gets it with Mickey. Time-Warner, against all odds, seems to get it with classic LTs (or will again after Loonatics fails as miserably as Baby Looney Tunes). Paramount still doesn't understand the significance and popularity of the Fleischer and TerryToons shorts it holds in its film vault library... :betty: :mighty:

It's criminal that Paramount and Time-Warner have not released Popeye and Betty on DVD yet.Well, in Warner's defense, King Features has been holding up official home video releases of Popeye for decades.
I don't know about anyone else, but whenever I hear about more "negotiations" between Warner and King I just feel like screaming "You don't have the rights to these cartoons! Yes, they have made other people a lot of money, but that was the deal you originally signed! Get over it already!!"

I already have that Republic VHS collection anyway... (the one with that awfull DNR filter).
Off topic: Do you know about a british pop singer in the early 90s, called Betty Boop? She has various hits in Europe back then.
