The long-awaited trade paperback collecting all 12 chapters of Don Rosa's history of the world's richest duck is finally coming out in June 2005. This will be 256 pages selling for $16.99. If you haven't read this series before, I highly recommend it. This is one of my all-time favorite Scrooge stories. Don Rosa tells a superb story detaling Scroog'es history from his childhood, to making his first dime to the infamous golden nugget and making of his first million. Rosa was careful to be faithful to Bark's Scrooge in so many details. I hope this collection will include Rosa's commentaries for each chapter that was included in the original comics. I may just have to go read this storyline again.:scrooge:

We've had the individual stories in comic book form already, and also a couple of expensive collector's editions, but this is the first time in the US that all of the chapters have been printed together in an affordable format.
I'm really glad this is coming out. It seems impossible to get a set of US 285-296 for under $50 on eBay these days. I wonder if the sequels, prequels, and 'inbetweequals' will be in this edition...

-ThadThat's a nice thought, but you'd probably be talking well over 500 pages now to include all of those!! ;)

that's what we had from years,a book in which all the chapters are explained and presented by none other that don rosa which explain the many references to the barks stories..

Would it? I was just talking about the chapters Rosa did after the 12-part series was completed, like "Sharpie of Calebra Cut" that was just in US 332. I'm uncertain of how many other chapters there are (I think only 3 others).

Hey Thad, here's a list of "apocryphal" Life of Scrooge stories. Unless I'm missing one, I count six:
Of Ducks and Dimes and Destinies (chapter 0)
Cowboy Captain of the Cutty Sark (chapter 3b)
Vigilante of Pizen Bluff (chapter 6b)
Prisoner of White Agony Creek (chapter 8b)
Hearts of the Yukon (chapter 8c)
Sharpie of the Culebra Cut (chapter 10b)
All but 8b have already appeared Stateside; 8b hasn't even appeared in Europe yet, but will do soon enough.
Gemstone is considering anthologizing these in a separate volume later on, but plans aren't set in stone yet.

No. A real "Life of Scrooge" story has to take place entirely, or almost entirely, in Scrooge's past. "Last Sled to Dawson" includes an extended flashback, but the majority of the story takes place in current duck-times.
There is at least one Italian "Life of Scrooge" collection that includes "...Dawson", but the selection was made without Don's involvement (nor did he really feel the story was appropriate, when he found out it had been used).
The cover for this edition is now available.

I think I would still tend to think of stories like that because they add so much to the lore. I don't think there is a better example in comics of carrying on the tradition of a predecessor (Carl Barks) than Don Rosa.
