Recently, a friend of mine sent me a DVD withcartoons taken off from a cartoon station that's only available for HD-TV.
The cartoons were in great condition. Unfortunatly, while the Pink Panther cartoons looked cropped (like in the UK DVD), I really liked the print in "The Inspector" short. It looked like it was remastered, compared to my other copies of the short.
And also saw a "Crazylegs Crane" episode for the first time, and, well, I think the Crane was better in "Tijuana Toads", but it wasn't SO bad, compared to other cartoons from late 1970s. Heck, maybe better than the post-1978 Pink Panther.
Also in the DVD were 4 "Dick Tracy" cartoons from UPA, one "Mr. Magoo" and a Columbia cartoon.
"Dick Tracy" cartoons were disappointing. Bad animation and Tracy's less involvement in the case. I liked the "Mr. Magoo" cartoon, but it didn't look remastered, as it was pretty scratchy and had that dots on top of the screen. Possibly just picked an old theatrical print. I didn't watch the Columbia cartoon yet (mainly because it's not Fox and Crow) but I'll take a look at it later.
Oh, and do they use that same animation with Dick Tracy contacting the good guys in EVERY episode? Pretty lazy, if you ask me.
