Inspector Clouseau is the main cahracter in the Pink Panther films though in the cartoon based on the film, I've never seen that character. Did he ever appear in Pink Panther cartoons?:thinkpink

Not unless you count the linking material in The Pink Panther Show.

He apparently had his own cartoon series, but he was just called "the inspector". These shorts had the theme from A Shot In The Dark and the Inspector had a sidekick.

It's been a looooong time since i've seen those cartoons. I also remember seeing The Inspector with The Pink Panther in the 90's cartoon series a few times.

I do remember a few Pink Panther cartoons he appeared in, although he was not wearing his Inspector's outfit, he was clearly the same character! One that comes to my was where the Inspector was planting yellow flowers and the Pink Panther planted Pink ones. The Inspector didn't like the pink flowers, so he pulled them up and replaced them with yellow ones, and vice versa! ;) :thinkpink

That wasn't the inspector. The pink panther was often teamed up with a little blank man that for some reason reminds me of Yosemite Sam. If you look more closely, you'll notice there are some differences besides the outfit.

The policeman in the later Pink Panther cartoon, "Pink Lightning", looks distinctly like Clouseau, but the cartoon is not set in a French locale. Perhaps Clouseau was forced to leave France (by Commissioner Dreyfus, maybe) and take a job in America...

Also, in "Pink Campaign", one of the detectives that searched the little man's house looked like a tall version of The Inspector.
