Through the years, some rumors about cartoons have been circulating. Here are some I can remember:
The lost final gag of "Hare-um Scare-um", with the hunter and the dog beaten by the rabbits.
The porn cartoon with Popeye produced by the Fleischer studio.
Bosko's infamous "The dirty f***!" line from "Bosko's Picture Show".
Some risque scenes inside "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", including one with Jessica Rabbit and one with Betty Boop (in the audio commentary from the DVD, they admit that the animators put one or two risque frames with Betty Boop, but that they were later cut).
Do you know any others?

Bosko's infamous "The dirty f***!" line from "Bosko's Picture Show".
That one's debatable.
the lost final gag in the heckling hare
That's a solid fact, not a rumor.
One of the most outrageous legends I remember was one that started a few years back about Bugs displaying his private area in "The Wabbit Who Came to Supper". There was also a rumor going around about a cartoon where Wile E. Coyote catches and graphically devours the Road Runner.

There's the infamous scene in CLOCK CLEANERS where Donald has been accused of saying the f-word.

And also there's the notorious case of the naked woman pictures sneaked into a couple of frames in The Rescuers which, unlike many an urban legend, happens to be real.

Bosko's infamous "The dirty f***!" line from "Bosko's Picture Show".
The version of "Bosko's Picture Show" that I saw, it certainly sounded like he said it. Perhaps theatergoers got a different word. It was said that this was a parting shot at Schlesinger/Warners, this being Harman and Ising's last short for Schlesinger. The character was called Dirty Dalton. Cal Dalton was an animator and sometime director at Warners in later years, but I don't know if he was at Schlesinger at this time, and I don't know if any venom was directed toward him.

If you really want to find something that actually exists, look at the "IT'S A HAP-HAP-HAPPY DAY" sequence in GULLIVER'S TRAVELS and watch the frustrated tailor tugging on the needle. Read his lips. He is not saying anything about "no new taxes!":ysam:

This isn't really a rumor but more of a fact- it seems as though International Film Service and Bray studios made a joblot of various cartoons that were never registered or recorded- thus there are a handful of prints with original studio titles but those cannot be located in any filmographies. Tom loves this kinda trivia;)

There used to be a cartoon character in the 30s (companion to Betty Boop?) named Bimbo. Today, that would be super risque.

There's a rumor about the lost "Pink Panther" cartoon "Suspense Account".
It is debatable whether or not the short actually exists or was made.

It was announced in trade publications in the 1930s that Ted Eshbaugh was producing a WIZARD OF OZ series. Only one short was made in two-color Techincolor. It survives, and circulates in various Public Domain compilations.
It had a score by Carl Stalling, but the cartoon never had general distribution.

I don't believe that cartoon was ever released. Esbaugh got in dutch with the Oz series publisher and the subsequent legal battle kept the cartoon in limbo.

Actually, bimbo is an italian word for a young man, if I remember correctly.

The term "bimbo" used to be used as a synonym for dumb or vacuous. Nowadays we simply associate it with untelligent women.

Not sure about other areas, but here we also use Bimbo to define a "loose woman" at times.

There were strong rumors that some of the NYC animated studios, that back in the 1920s, some studios made some, um...er, ah adult cartoons during off hours.I've actually seen one of these "dirty" cartoons in a movie theater and that animation looked like it was made at the Bowers studios, since the characters bore a striking resemblance to "Mutt And Jeff".

Not an urban legend I suppose, but theres the 10 second (or so) B&W clip of Porky Pig when he hits his thumb with a hammer and yells: "Son of a b-b-b-bb-b; son of a b-b-b-b-b-b....... son of a b-b-b-b--Gun! Bet you thought I was gonna say "Son of a B---h!"

and I remember a character named Bimbo. I've seen it on one or two of the tapes my family's got (not that we have that many). Or was it in that comic book??? I don't remember.... but it's familiar.
I don't think it would be "risque" but people might poke a lot of fun at it.
We can never forget the supposed racial comment said by Donald to Daffy in Roger Rabbit.... people are still convinced he says it.....
Here's snopes, if you haven't seen the Disney movie ones....

Bet you thought I was gonna say "Son of a B---h!"That's not an urban legend. The clip, made in 1938 probably by Bob Clampett, was part of a gag reel the studio produced for the fun of its employees and it wasn't meant to be shown in public. A few clips from it can be seen in the "Toonheads: The Lost Cartoons" special on LTGC1. I hope Warner will include the whole gag reel in a future LTGC release.

Actually, the "son of a b----" clip comes from a WB Blooper reel. Every year, the studio assembled it for a Christmas party and in 1938, the guys from Termite Terrace got into the act. I've seen portions of it and it's very funny to see the likes of Jimmy Stewart flub a line and follow it with an expletive!

the Bosko thing is real. I'm sorry, there's no other way to hear that word in "Bosko's Picture Show". Some have speculated that he says "fox", but I believe this was pre-ratings/Hayes code, so you never know what they might've been thinking. I DO know that Nickelodeon edited it in the late 1980's, and dubbed in the word "cur"! :bosko:

(On the other hand: Does Porky keep cursing "That's all, [plural form of sexual intercourse]" at all the Looney Tunes endings?)

made in 1938 probably by Bob Clampett.
It looks more like it came from Frank Tashlin's unit to me.
