Okay, let's pretend that Tex managed to survive that harrowing day of August 26, 1980 and sometime after was given an elixer that made him live forever. He's sitting in a La-Z-Boy in 2005 scanning the channels Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Teletoon(in Canada), or any other channel with cartoons on it. Which cartoons is he enjoying and which ones cause him to throw things at the TV?
I think maybe Jerry Beck, Joe Adamson, or any other animation historian would be much more qualified to elucidate in this thread but we can have fun doing so as well. :D

He'd probably like Family Guy, and the early Simpsons seasons.
He'd hate baby Looney Tunes of course.

For some resaon I think he'd have a love/hate relationship with King Of The Hill. South Park would probably drive him nuts with the papercut animation and then there's the case of what he would think about japanese anime which I'll leave to the more Avery-savvy posters...

He'd love "Ren and Stimpy". Although Bob Clampett would probably love it more.
He'd probably be a big "Simpsons" fan too.
I know he'd hate "The Wacky World of Tex Avery" (although that probably wouldn't of been made if he was alive at the time). I don't really think he would like "The Simpsons" (I know Chuck Jones disliked it).

Nick, that's interesting that you say Chuck disliked The Simpsons, I'm curious to hear why if you have anymore info on the topic... I never knew that.

I remember reading an interview with Matt Groening somewhere on the internet that mentioned Chuck disliking "The Simpsons". Unfortunately, I can't remember where it was. :(

I could see him watching Ren & Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life. But I don't think anything that is on right now. Maybe South Park if there mouths were shut.

Now that nicktoons have been brought up, I think that the "grown up" rugrats thing, actually all of the tween shows that are rampant nowadays, would have him hurl the TV through the window. Now, if Tex were alive today, I think his favorite cartoons would the ones he produces, don't you think?

I'm willing to bet Tex Avery would have loved "Ed, Edd & Eddy".
I think he would've liked the first 2 seasons of Spongebob because of its wackiness that makes it so Looney Tune like.

Well, I think there are a few things he would've liked. As said before, he'd probably like Ren and Stimpy and Rocko. He might've liked parts of Animaniacs. He'd like Courage the Cowardly Dog and, yes, he might at least like the wackiness of Ed Edd and Eddy, but not really much else about it. He might like the Simpsons, and chances are that Samurai Jack would interest him. Wallace and Gromit would probably be an international favorite of his.

He might also like the three theatrical Roger Rabbit shorts from the early 1990s.

Tex would certianly hate 'Baby Looney Tunes', but he would definately like 'Tiny Toons'. I'm sure Tex would also love 'Ren & Stimpy', but if he watched it enough, he would realize that John K. was more raunchier than he was. 'South Park' would be kinda iffy due to the constant use of language, and potty humor. However, if he looked past those aspects, he'd probably enjoy it. Also, i'll bet you a million dollars he would never allow 'The Wacky World Of Tex Avery' to be made. And for good reason.(Unless he did it his way) I'd also bet that if he had any involvment of the 'Droopy & Dribble' cartoons from 'Tom & Jerry Kids', (Or even the 'Droopy' cartoons from Filmation's 'Tom & Jerry Comedy Show') he's probably make them more enjoyable.
I know he'd hate "The Wacky World of Tex Avery" .
Actually not because the series was his idea. I looked at iMDb and they identify him as the creator of the series.

Don't use IMDB as the final answer for everything, they have a lot of information that's wrong on their site.
Avery was dead over 15 years before "TWWOTA" came out from DIC. Tex's family gave the company the rights to his name, but the last cartoons Avery did were stories for Kwiki Kowala and the Dino and Cavemouse episodes for the Saturday morning Flintstones show on NBC in 1980.
As limited as H-B's animation was at that time, even in the Cavemouse cartoons once in a while one of Tex's visual gags would poke it's head out of the verbal yakfests. Going on that, the cartoons he would like today would be the ones that had the wildest visual gags and the least amount of dialogue. And given Avery's love of trashing the cutesy-poo stories of the Disney studio in the 1930s, you can only imagine what he'd do if he ever got his hands on a "Baby Looney Tunes" episode... ;)

And oh, what Avery might have done with a hand in the production of Animaniacs or Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures! (heavy sigh)
