Barnes & Noble are releasing an exclusive DVD next month. Does anybody here know which shorts are on this TCM DVD?
I just looked at the back. It has.

-Tweetie Pie
-Birds Anonymous
-Quiet Please
-The Milky Way

7 cartoons for $25 bucks? Are they nuts?
I have a feeling this is going to be another promo giveaway DVD, like last year's Barnes & Noble/TCM DVD of Academy Award winning live-action shorts. If I recall, the deal was buy two Warner Home Video DVDs at B&N and get the exclusive DVD for free.
[Oh yeah, I moved this thread to the News board. Thanks for the tip, Senbei!]

7 cartoons for $25 bucks? Are they nuts?A lot of their prices seem to be jacked way up.

That's Barnes & Noble DVD sales for you!
They almost NEVER have a good sale. It's MSRP at B & N all the way...!
Sure, they can re-issue good books at cheap prices like Fantasia and The Art of Looney Tunes in hardcovers (both went for $19.95 in the B & N editions), but their DVD pricing is LOUSY.
Their competitor, Borders, has much better deals on DVD prices (10% to 20% average discount) and occasionally sends out nice 25% off coupons through e-mail if you're smart enough to register your e-mail address to Borders. I've gotten more than a few nice DVDs 25% off that way!
(In addition, Borders occasionally gives customers a 15% off coupon in-store with your purchase receipt that's good up to 90 days from the purchase date.)
If Birds Anonymous and Knighty Knight Bugs are remastered, we may get a clue for the next Golden Collection.

You know what the funny thing is --?
I complained about this disc online and now I'm holding the damn thing IN FRONT OF ME right now! :D
I don't know if the B & N employee knew what he was doing or not, but I got the disc FOR FREE today...!
Seriously! I didn't buy a darn thing at B & N today but I got the Oscar Classic Cartoons DVD AND a sampler CD of romantic songs (Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett, etc.) for free today!
The guy who gave me this stuff said they (the B & N employees) are trying to get rid of this crap so they were just giving it to people even if they DIDN'T sell the WB DVDs with the shorts.
(See, technically for in-store sales you're supposed to buy 2 WB DVDs, minimum $25 purchase, then you get the animated shorts DVD as a free bonus.)
I guess this is an early birthday present? :daffy:

I guess I'm heading to my local B&N tonight after work to see if they're doing that near me. Are Birds Anonymous and Knighty Knight Bugs remastered?

I also just picked up a free copy at B&N. I asked if they were giving away a DVD with Oscar-winning cartoons on it and they just handed it to me without having to buy anything.:D
How'd you do that? At the Barnes and Noble at the Palisades Mall, it only comes free if you buy one of the Oscar winning DVD's on display, but they were all way too expensive. I wanted to buy Gone With the Wind but The price was too high. But what do you expect from a new release. Please tell me how you were able to do that without buying anything else.

The first time I just walked in and asked the girl at the counter if I could have one of their free DVDs of Oscar-winning cartoons, and she just silently handed it to me. I then asked "Is it completely free, I don't have to buy anything?" because I didn't want to be accused of shoplifting as I left the store, and she just nodded.
I've gone again since then though (to get one for my dad, who loves Looney Tunes), and the second time a different girl was at the counter. She said I was supposed to buy some movie(s) to get it, but that she was a nice person so she would give it to me for free. So try again and make sure it's a different cashier, try to pick one who seems like a pleasant person.
