And if you missed show #2 (like I did!), don't forget to fire up that VCR now for tomorrow morning's 5:30 (Eastern) rerun! :tweety: (Like I just did.)

A slightly irrelevant update on the Geezils' belated viewing of Cartoon Alley #2:
I think Mrs. Geezil, whose favorite animated shorts do tend to fall into the cute-n'-cuddly Harman-Ising/occasional Chuck Jones animals category (not that there's anything wrong with that) :tweety:, had never seen "The Pups' Christmas" before, and so was very happy as this tape began to roll.
But we both agreed that "Peace on Earth" was the highlight of the show, that one-of-a-kind H-I gem for which they just might remain best remembered.
Oh, and of course :tomcat: & :jerry: were their usual "on" selves, but why say it again?

Thank you for the heads up - never saw "Life with Feathers" or "The Blitz Wolf", and I haven't seen "Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt" in about ten years.
I think I said this already somewhere, but what the hey.

I just got through replqying my tape of Saturday's Cartoon Alley, and there were a couple of things worth noting:
1) "The Blitz Wolf" that aired was the censored version (minus Japanese referrences) that aired on the Toon Heads war cartoons special from 2001.
2) "Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt" did not air. Instead, Cartoon Alley showed the Tom & Jerry cartoon "Hatch Up Your Troubles", though judging by what Josh Mankiewitz said following the short, either he and/or whoever wrote the script were a little disdainful about T&J's many Oscar nominations (or at least their victories) than they were about the Oscar nominations for the Avery and Freleng cartoons on the show.
"Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt" did not air. Instead, Cartoon Alley showed the Tom & Jerry cartoon "Hatch Up Your Troubles"
What a disappointment this was! I haven't watched the T&J replacement short yet, but I was looking forward to seeing TCM step up and have balls to air stuff like "Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt". I wonder if they caught flak for "Winchester" in "Malibu Beach Party" (Cartoon Alley #1) and are starting to cave under pressure...
Does anyone know why they didn't air the short they had scheduled? I should have known it was too good to be true: uncut, logo-free and rare-ish cartoons on television...

No, he's called "Winchester" (as a joke on the name "Rochester"). :P

The dits in "Blitz Wolf" were exact as the version aired on the Wartime Cartoons Toonheads? If so, I guess it's safe to assume Turner is distributing the short edited beforehand.

There were edits in "Blitz Wolf"? Huh, I thought the freeze frame after "You're diggin' a ditch" was supposed to be intentional (if the rest of the line goes how I think it goes), but was that the actual way the cartoon plays or not?

Yes, that is how the cartoon plays. Remember, the Hayes Code was in effect at the time so they couldn't use that word.

Also, imagine this: Might Avery have been playing with the theatre audiences' heads in another way (for instance, "let's see how many salt-of the-earth guys in the house will unconsciously sing along and pay the price when the pigs pause ... heh, heh, heh, take that, Hays Office!")?
"Ehhhhhhh ... it's a possibility!" :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Perhaps they encountered problems by advertizing the shorts beforehand. You'll notice the shorts for March have not been included in the schedule.
