Just happened to turn on the TV and go to TCM and they were playing "Tom Thumb In Trouble"...I really wish they'd announce these things it would make the lack of Looney Tunes elsewhere on TV somewhat more bearable...

I just happened to catch that! :D

I was tuning in to see the end of the previous movie, but it was already over so I just left the station on whilst going on about my day. Normally, I only catch the trailers for their upcoming movies so getting to see this cartoon was just an extra treat for me.

It seems that TCM shows cartoons when we least expect it. I'm watching TCM as I write this and there talking about Cary Grant, people who died in 2004 and an EXTREMLY long trailer for Phsyco.

Appropriately, the cartoon was shown after George Pal's movie, Tom Thumb.

(On a related note- "Cartoon Alley #2" is airing tomorrow (Friday) morning at 5am.)

TCM only identifies shorts when they are specifically part of a program devoted to them such as MGM Parade... or Cartoon Alley, unless it's March and an Academy AwardŽ-winning/nominated short is being featured as part of 31 DAYS OF OSCARŽ.

However, I agree they should announce these things.

Actually, it was just BEFORE "Tom Thumb". Unless we're not talking about the same movie - this one had Peter Sellers as a villain and the voice of Stan Freberg...

Oops...my mistake. You're right, it was shown before Tom Thumb and not after.

and an EXTREMLY long trailer for Psycho.
That trailer was just part of the amazing marketing that was done for that film. It clocks in right around 10 minutes, from what I recall.

The trailer for The Birds is pretty long too, though not that long. Also, it sort of explains why birds start attacking humans in the movie.

Remember when AMC just about always showed the trailer for a film right before the film? By tuning in early, you could get both together in the same taping.
