Haven't heard much discussion on the other newest Disney Treasure collection, "The Complete Pluto"..So what does everyone think? Is it good?, decent? or not that great to begin with?

It's decent. Not as good as MM in B&W Vol.2. It's too bad they split up Pluto's cartoons instead of releasing him on a single volume (like Complete Goofy) and filled up the set with repeat cartoons as filler. You'll also quickly learn that no human was ever meant to watch this many Pluto cartoons in a row (but one or two at a time are okay...). Some highlights include the cartoons you'll want to finish off your Mickey collection (the Mouse appears with Pluto in "Canine Caddy", "Lend a Paw", and "Squatter's Rights" with Chip and Dale).

I didn't buy "The Complete Pluto" set, but I can say that most of the Pluto cartoons are fairly decent.

I've only seen a few of the Pluto cartoons and so far, it's not a bad collection. But there is one question regarding this colllection, does Disney's verison of "Mammy" appear in any of the Pluto cartoons?

Yes, she's in "Pantry Pirate" on Disc 2 in the "From the Vault" section.

by the way, mammy also was in figaro and cleo.
the pluto set shows a phantasmagorical restoration of the shorts, bone trouble looks amazingly well...
i suppose that the next pluto set(which will be probably released in 2006)will have all the other pluto cartoons plus some mickey shorts like pluto's party and pluto's chistmas tree, the commercial a feather in his collar and the featurette made for tv the coyote's lament

I'm not a huge fan of Pluto shorts, so am shocked at how much I enjoyed this set. I think its a bit cheap that Disney spilt the shorts up (they could have fit them all on) but whatever.
The features are really strong as well.

Well, I enjoyed it. I don't think the Pluto series is as bad as some others do. As for their watchability, I DID watch many Pluto cartoons in a row (but then, I was home all by myself with nothing else to do, so there you have it). My favorites were "Beach Picnic", "The Sleepwalker", "Pluto's Kid Brother", "In Dutch", and "Pluto's House Warming".
I've been enjoying this set. The shorts look better than ever before, but I agree it was pretty stingy to split this into 2 volumes and include a bunch of repeats (if they HAD to include repeats they could've made a better selection). The special features are really good, but it was a little frustrating how the Disneyland episode was incomplete just because the last 15 minutes aren't about Pluto. I liked the comic strips, but I was disappointed that they didn't include the entire continuity of MOTHER PLUTO - after reading the first bit I was expecting the rest of the story to follow. I read a reprint of the MOTHER PLUTO strip when I was a kid and I recall it being different to the short it is based on (there's a black chick in the family which gets into trouble or something). I was expecting A FEATHER IN HIS COLLAR to be on this set too, but hopefully it will be on Volume 2. I think this DVD is well worth the price it costs, but we don't get as spoiled as we do with other Tresure sets.

I love this set. The Pluto cartoons never looked better. I haven't watched the whole set yet, but I've watched over half and everything looks very good.
The cartoons themselves are very nice. The Disney animators of this era could create complex series of gags with little or no dialogue. All the art is appealing.
Also note: I think the print they used on "The Chain Gang" is quite a bit better than on the first Mickey Black and white set. The credits used here are in the more modern re-release style.

It's an all right set, although probably the least watchable Disney Treasure -- maybe even DVD set period -- that I own. I've gotten a lot more enjoyment out of the other two Wave 4 sets. I find the later Pluto cartoons to be more watchable than the earlier ones, which doesn't work well for me since most of the later ones will have to wait for Volume 2. I wish they hadn't filled it up with repeats, that's one more Donald set or Silly Symphonies V2 DVD set that could have been produced instead of Pluto Volume 2. :/
The "From the Vault" introduction is starting to really annoy me, but at least you only have to endure it once instead of in front of each cartoon...

It won't let me skip it, but my DVD player lets me fast forward through Maltin's vault intro (at least on Mickey's set --- I haven't tried it out on Pluto yet).

The forced intros work weird on certain DVD players... It's comforting to know that the DVD player in the family room will allow me to fast forward the intros on the Front Lines set! :shame:
