Today I recalled this very funny cartoon "Who Killed Who?" and I clearly remember the live action portion featuring a large man with a somewhat deep voice, so I must ask - was that man Tex Avery? I haven't seen the cartoon in a long while so my memory is a bit fuzzy on the details.

The gentleman you ask about in "Who Killed Who?" is not Tex Avery, but MGM actor, Robert Emmett O'Connor (1885-1962).O'Connor was a silent film actor and made the transitition to sound films in 1929.Some of his more well known roles, included "The Big House" (1930) with Wallace Beery, had a small part in "Our Blushing Brides" (1930) with Joan Crawford and appeared in the classic gangster feature, "The Public Enemy" (1931) alongside with James Cagney and Jean Harlow.O'Connor never became a major movie star, while most of his movie roles consited of playing Irish Cops and Bootleggers.
Hope this helps!
