Just before the GAC move, we had this game. We put up a question and who ever answers it right asks the next question. Will start out with mine, that no one answered right (even though there was only 1 answer by JB)
WHAT DO THESE CARTOONS HAVE IN COMMON?
(blooper) Bunny!
Father of the Bird
Another Froggy Evening
Little Go Beep
UncleJunior
08-15-2004, 08:55 PM
They were made in the 1990s.
Question:
Who was credited with "Supervision" for the cartoon "Fish Tales"??
Philo & Gunge
08-15-2004, 09:07 PM
They were made in the 1990s.Oh, that's true. But that's not the answer we're looking for. Try again.
J. B. Warner
08-15-2004, 09:21 PM
All four had limited theatrical releases? I don't know (was "(blooper) Bunny" even released theatrically?).

All four had limited theatrical releases? I don't know (was "(blooper) Bunny" even released theatrically?).YES! That's it! No (blooper) Bunny! wasn't released because WB didn't like the content.
J. B. Warner

So does that mean I get to ask another question?
Philo & Gunge
08-15-2004, 09:55 PM
So does that mean I get to ask another question?Yeah.
NEW RULE
You cannot ask a new question until you get conformation from the host (aka the person asking the question), no one else cannot start a new quetion until then either.
J. B. Warner
08-16-2004, 03:19 PM
Very well then.
Name at least five WB cartoons that are unofficially banned (meaning that they are not on the Censored 11 but are still hardly ever shown due to their racially or otherwise stereotypical humor).
"Flop Goes The Weasel"
"The Early Worm Gets The Bird"
"Which Is Witch"
"Africa Squeaks"
"Herr Meets Hare"
If I got that right, here is the next question:
What was the first WB cartoon, that listed Art Davis in the credits?
J. B. Warner
08-16-2004, 04:03 PM
Yeah sure, go ahead (I wasn't thinking of "Flop Goes the Weasel" or "The Early Worm Gets the Bird" because I didn't know what their content consisted of; I had "Wise Quackers" and "Tom Tom Tomcat" in mind).

I notice nobody has answered this one yet so I'll give it a try:
Tweety Pie
Fast and Furry-ous
Bully for Bugs
Bedevilled Rabbit
another one to mention would be "For Scent-Imental Reasons" but you only asked for four. I just thought I'd bring that up.
J. B. Warner
08-19-2004, 04:46 PM
I don't recall Selzer hindering the production of "Fast and Furry-Ous", but you did bring up "For Scent-Imental Reasons" so I'll give that one to you. Your turn.

Well, now that I'm back...
Who was the last major director, not counting layout or other artists that recieved codirector credits, to arise at the Warner animation studio before the 1963 shutdown, whose unit did he replace, what was his first cartoon, and in what year was it released?
Daffysleftfoot
08-30-2004, 10:07 PM
J.B., I do believe you're talking about Art Davis, who became the director of Bob Clampett's unit and inwhich the first cartoon they produced was a nice Porky Pig romp called Mouse Menace c. 1946.
J. B. Warner
08-30-2004, 10:11 PM
"You're abthhholutely correct!"
Next question...
Daffysleftfoot
08-30-2004, 10:25 PM
There was an animator who was at the WB studio just one year before it shut down the second time. (He may have been there for years previous but he didn't receive animation credit until the final year). This animator went on to start a hugely successful comic strip. Name the animator AND the comic strip.

Okay, either I've stumped everyone again or people are getting kind of tired of this game. :o
Answer: the animator in question is Jim Davis who, of course, is the creator of the comic strip Garfield. That is wrong, he wasn't that Jim Davis. He was, however, the same Jim Davis who drew the Fox and CRow comic for twenty years and directed some of the later WB specials ("How Bugs Bunny Won The West" and "Bugs Bunny's Valentine Special" are two examples).

(This one ain't so hard, it's in the LTGC)
Daffysleftfoot
09-14-2004, 01:09 PM
Yeah, that one is too easy. Al Jolson, Jack Benny, Eddie Cantor, Bing Crosby.

That would be Raymond Scott, the man behind the Raymond Scott Quintet (despite its having six members) and such musical materpieces as "Powerhouse", "The Penguin", "Huckleberry Duck", and "Dinner Music for a Pack of Hungry Cannibals". My favorite jazz musician, too.

"Tree For Two" Sylvester sings in that one, and I count singing as talking. (That cancels out "Back Alley Op-Roar" then)
