I'm glad I went on Chuck Redux just now, otherwise today would've completely slipped by me. But today is the 8th anniversary of Chuck's death. He'd be 97 years old if he were still alive.

Be sure to watch one of his cartoons today. I'm probably going to watch a Road Runner or two.

RIP Chuck. We miss you. Thanks for all the laughs.

It's been that long? Man, I remember seeing it all over my newspaper, the Cincinnati Enquirer. They did a pretty good article, and the editorial cartoonist, Jim Borgman did a awesome tribute to him (Road Runner running through heaven's gates and Wile E. slamming into them). Mainly because, well, Chuck Jones was Jim's mentor.

Wow, that's awesome? Do you happen to have a picture of the Jim Borgman thing? I'd love to see it.

Yep. I remember this date very well indeed. Still miss the guy.

RIP, Chuck. Gone but never, ever forgotten. Thank God your work is still with us! ;)

I still remember seeing Compressed Hare, and that amazing magnet gag on Cartoon Network that morning before school. They aired a tribute bumper for Chuck Jones the next day.

Even missing his 90th birthday, Jones left us too soon. His influence was still felt around the animation community until the very end. He was the only WB director that Cartoon Network dedicated a series to while he was still alive (The Chuck Jones Show debuting April 8, 2001). And at the time of his passing, Jones himself was busy on Timber Wolf, which was also the last project for Maurice Noble.

I'll never forget signing on to AOL and seeing the headline "Legendary Animator Chuck Jones Dies at 89" (or words to that effect). My grandfather died three days later, and Spike Milligan died two days after that. Truly a heartbreaking week for me.

I don't have that right now, but for now here's an interview from Reader's Digest with "Bugs" talking about Chuck.
