Did anyone hear about this? Why is it only for one day?

I saw it at a 70th anniversary screening in September through Fathom. This is an "encore" of that night. There's a short making of before the film. I don't know why they only do these one night events, but that's just what Fathom does. I think this is deserving of a wide 70th anniversary release. By the way, this is shown digitally, not on film.

This is an encore of the previous one-day showing from September 23, which was done to promote the then-upcoming remastered DVD and Blu-ray.
This is a Fathom Events production, which is a company that does a number of one-night-only satellite screenings with various companies and organizations to promote things (concerts, political documentaries, etc.). In this case, Warner Bros. wanted to promote the DVD and more specifically the Blu-ray, which is why they used the latter's high definition transfer.

Who knows. Probably the best they could afford out of getting a digital projection of it done.
Noticed a theater in the southern part of town is playing it where I live. Still it's probably not worth it if they're not going to run a 35mm print.

Okay, Good News/Bad News time:
The Good News: It's actually playing in my neighborhood, like a couple blocks close by, and it's at a time that's convenient (early)
The Bad News: Online Ticketing requires you to register with a site to buy online.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
I'll just check it out with the box office in person.
EDIT: So after closely inspecting the box office and finding not only no sign of this digital event but also a bunch of unsavory characters lurking about, I decided to forgo this event... again.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Hey, I own this movie anyway, and it's only going to be a digital copy. Why should I be disappointed like this? Maybe it was the pie.
