I know the aborted Cartoon Network "Cartoonstitute' cartoons have come up in other threads, but I thought this one deserved its own discussion.
Created by a guy named Mike Bell, this isn't a perfect cartoon, but it's so darn funny, I could ignore the "cartoon modern" look of it and just enjoy the humor of it. It's the only one of these "Cartoonstitute" cartoons that I have liked!
There's a super-happy leprechaun who's almost a Spongebob parody, a brownie elf who sounds like a frustrated Brooklyn comedian, and a talking tree narrator who sounds like John Cleese.
The title character looks kind of like Bob Clampett's Injun Joe, and the idea is that he wants to be friends with the cute, happy little characters, but he frightens them and doesn't know how to be anything but a barbarian.
Above all, it has actual JOKES. Though it's way too talky, there's visual humor as well, and the talk is funny....has a very Jay Ward-ish flavor.
Check it out!
