View Full Version : Jinkies! Someone at Boomerang must be running a slight fever this week. IT'S POPEYE!

And not just the usual piddling half-hour of colorized disasters per day. As I write this, Boomerang is in the midst of running a full hour of pre-prime-time Popeye, consisting of all three Fleischer Color Specials.
Plus, if you hadn't already heard, the Sailor Man is also this coming weekend's advertised "Boomeroyalty" star, in several more full hours.
Might there be life in the ol' Boomer yet? We shall see. :D

They did this a month or so ago where they featured all 3 Fleischer color specials in an airing of Boomerang Theater. It is probably going to be a regular occurrence now. It's just too bad they can't show the restored DVD versions.
There have also been a few occasions where they featured all 9 Fleischer produced Superman cartoons during Boomerang Theater, which according to the October highlights posted on the Toonzone forum, they'll be showing them again on Oct. 6.
As for the Boomeroyalty, I have already checked the schedule for this weekend, and as I suspected, they are going through the same half hour cycles that they have been shuffling through (although the listings are by the hour, and rarely are the cartoons ever shown in the order listed). From the looks of things, this month will be all Famous color cartoons. I'll take that over redrawns any day.
Those of you who get Boomerang and have gaps in your Popeye collection, you might want to record these Boomeroyalty airings. It looks as though Popeye won't return to the regular schedule in October (this again coming from Toonzone). He will most likely return to the regular schedule eventually, though. It is just a matter of when.
As of now, you can see what shorts are airing this coming Saturday and Sunday here: http://schedule.cartoonnetwork.com/servlet/BoomerangServlet?action=selectBMDay
As for MGM cartoons, does anyone recall any airings of "One Mother's Family" and "The Stork's Holiday"? Those two should be safe to air, but I have yet to see them air.

Thanks for noticing my mistake. Popeye is returning to the schedule starting September 28th at 7AM only on weekdays.

Speaking of Boomerang, I have a question about their Pink Panther show. I have to admit that I don't pay much attention to it, but it seems that they only show Pink, Inspector, and Ant and the Aardvark shorts on it now. Around 2006, during a period where I didn't have Boomerang, they were also airing Tijuana Toads, Blue Racer, Misterjaws, and Crazylegs Crane. Do they air any of those anymore? Last year, they were airing Crazylegs as between show filler, but I am not sure about the others.

I think I remember one of the Blue Racer shorts being shown as a filler between Penelope Pitstop and another HB show few months ago.

Crazylegs Crane still turns up as filler during the daytime hours, and I think the same has been true for The Blue Racer (though much less often).

And to think a few years ago, a discussion on this subject brought about a forum war. It's not always easy to be right when you know you are and the majority says you're not. But with patience, wisdom shines, doesn't it?:sailor:

A "forum war," eh? Strange ... I don't recall any gladiators-vs.-lions battle over Crazylegs Crane or Super Bwoing ever having taken place here. ;)

Boomerang airs the Pink Panther for a full hour everyday, but I have not seen if any of the other shorts have aired. In regards to Crazylegs Crane, they are always showing these cartoons, as fillers all the time. But it does surprise me that Boomerang has not aired any of the Roland And Ratfink shorts since the channel picked up these cartoons three years ago and Cartoon Network(now called "Clueless" Network)did air them.

Boomerang has yet to air "Hoot Kloot" as well, even though Cartoon Network aired them years ago.
Not that we're all demanding that they are to be aired. :p

The first 3 or 4 could be run and I wouldn't mind.
Although I don't get Boomerang, so I pretty much don't care.

I don't get Boomerang either. I wish there was some kind of streaming TV thing where you could choose which channels you want to see.

I wish there was a way to record past broadcasts. Like say I wanted to record the "June Bugs" from 2002, I could set my TV recorder for June 1st, 2002...
Seriously why hasn't such a thing been invented yet?

Because then someone would set it to a time when the cartoons weren't censored and parents groups would complain.

FWIW, in recent weeks, Crazylegs Crane and The Blue Racer (as well as The Ant and the Aardvark) have begun to show up with some regularity during Boomerang's weekday Pink Panther hour (2:00–3:00 PM Eastern time). Catch 'em while you can, U.S. fans! :D

Maybe contact that alien 7 lightyears away... He'll tape it within 3 months from now.
