I just finished watching the last few episodes of Season 6, and now I can officially say I have seen the entire series of "The Flintstones". With all this talk about the Flintstones lately, I decided it would be nice to talk about everyone's favorite season and what is was so significant about that particular season that stands out.

For me, it had to be the first season. The first season of "The Flintstones" really does look prehistoric compared to the rest. You have this whole concept of what practically is an animated version of "The Honeymooners", and the series clearly is aimed at adult audiences at this particular point in the series' run. We have two married couples that comprise of all the main characters and later on, we get a pet dinosaur added to the cast. These episodes are the funniest ones, at least IMO.

I do have to give honorable mention to seasons 2 and 3. In fact, it was a very close call between seasons 1 and 3 for my favorite season. I have quite a few favorite episodes from Season 3, but the last few episodes of that season were ones that I found rather boring.

As for least favorite, I definitely would have to say that Season 6 would be my least favorite of them all. You can tell just by watching episodes from that season that it was obviously going to be the last. One thing I noticed about season 6 that I didn't notice about the other 5 seasons was that the quality of the animation in particular really had suffered. Hanna-Barbera must have made season 6 on a smaller budget than they had for the previous seasons.

I have both Seasons 1 & 3 (and one episode from Season 2), and they are both pretty good. There is one scene in Season 3 that just made me laugh hysterical when I first saw it--it's in "Vantriloquist Barney" (Disc 4, Side B)...Barney is describing (and imitating!) to Fred how a famous wrestler looks when he gets mad (his face turns red, eyes buldge, out and his nose turns purple) Barney's face looks absoultely hilarious! I think this is how some of those toy manufacters got those ideas for those weird colored toys for The Flintstones. Or maybe the HB was making fun of the toys.

Season 3 also shed some light on Wilma's mother. She appeared in two episodes along with characters she suggested to Wilma to take care of the baby which is really her in disguse, I think. And we also get Pebbles, which showed more sides to Fred and Wilma (and their relationship)

I like season 1 the best.
