Yeah, I know it's Saturday the 29th. But I decided to do this week's CDOTW a little early.

This week's CDOTW will be for the 1955 Robert McKimson cartoon Lighthouse Mouse:

Unfortunately, the only English Language version I can find is the one with Matt's commentary track (no offense or anything, Matt!). But this was always among my favorite Sylvester/Hopper shorts, partially because Nickelodeon used to air it so frequently. The set up is a nice break from the typical "giant mouse terrorizes the neighborhood" plot (instead, he terrorizes a lighthouse). Sylvester has some great lines, such as "I'm a pussycat. Not an electrician." And even Polly The Parrot had some funny moments (such as his obliviously repeating "Sorry Captain! Sorry Captain!" after the scottish lighthouse owner apologizes for the power outtage). Oh, by the way, yes that part with Sylvester downing all those vitamins was cut from syndicated broadcasts.

Anyway, discuss!

It is pretty funny-although Sylvester accidently electricuting himself frightened me as a child. I think that the vitamin part is hysterical-he's rubbing them all over himself! :DThey go everywhere but his mouth. I also like the "peakaboo" in the shelf gag in which the little mouse keeps shutting the door and the Kangaroo shows up when it reopens. Heck the pairing up of the two is pretty genius.I also love the abusive ending with Sylvester!

I like that peek-a-boo scene, too. Along with Sylvester's attempt at pathologizing what's going on.
